Well, the obvious would be to ask him what is it going to be like, is it going to be a continuation of the same kind of thing we saw in the pilot or will he change things around (I hope so). Basically, what the heck is he gonna write about?
Ok everyone,
I need your help in asking interview questions to the creator of "The Kids Next Door", Tom Warburton. He promised CCF: The Fansite an exclusive interview (and pretty much the first one). I know the show has not aired yet, but I'm sure you can think of something. He is currently working as a co-director on Sheep in the Big City as well. Please post any good interview questions here, and I'll be sure to ask them.
I'm also working on an interview for a yet unnamed staff member on Adult Swim. Keep checking back, and post your questions openly.....you'll never know who's reading them.

My question for the unnamed AS staff member would be: Have you looked about picking up Baby Blues, the former primetime WB animated series that had been ordered by The WB for 22-26 episodes, but only 6 aired? It is a great show and I would love to see it on AS.Originally posted by CartoonFridays

For Tom Warburton, congrats on your showing winning. However, I wasn't really a big fan of the pilot myself. Would you be open to suggestions from fans on this board on how to make the show better? I have some ideas on how to make the show better. Also, what's new for the second season of "Sheep?"
Thanks.
I'd just ask him what inspired him to start in the animation business (boring question I know....but..there was a Paul Dini interview one time..and we figured the important guys get asked the "will you?" questions enough..hehe)

I really did not like the pilot (Sorry Mr. Warburton), so I'd like to know what he is going to do with the series. I believe he worked on Pepper Ann because the character designs look very similar. I just hope it's not another one of those shows about kids like the ones that air on ABC. Yeesh.Originally posted by Joe Tully

I could see KND becoming an action series (if that's what they want) if the concept was changed. I mean, Dexter did that whole bit very well (with all his gadgets, giant robots, and alot of anime influence). I'd also change the voice actors. IMHO, they were horrible. But I doubt Mr. Warburton picked who would voice the characters.
I wasn't crazy about the pilot either, and would like it if he would change stuff around from the pilot...However, I think that it's important to avoid offending Mr. Warburton during the interview, so try to watch how you phrase things. I dunno if you'd want to come out and say "Hey, your pilot wasn't so good, are you going to change things?" But there might be a more subtle way of putting it. From what I remember hearing at WBC, it's a good idea to keep it friendly, maybe ask him a few less important questions like the one Bird Boy suggested. You want to stay friendly with the guy so he'll think about giving you more interviews in the future. A few less important topics can help build rapport (but not too many of course!).
CN sent me a preview tape for "The Big Pick" and I fast-forwarded through "The Kids Next Door" after just 1 minute because the two voices for each character in two different languages at the same time was just too distracting for me to endure.
I was hoping it was just an error on the tape because it just made no sense to have characters speaking English and Spanish at the same time.
I don't mean this question for Mr. Warburton, but I didn't want to start a new thread and it did seem to be on topic. Could someone tell me if it was the same way when it aired on CN? Please say it ain't so - it was impossibly hard to listen and I couldn't even bring myself to watch all the way through the cartoon because of it. Surely a creator/producer wouldn't use a gimmick like that in a cartoon just because it's different.

There was no Spanish on it when I saw it on TV.
Hmm...why would that one have English and Spanish, while none of the others did?
r u sure your vcr wasn't on SAP and stereo? the SAP setting provides audio changes for supported programs.
I hate myself and I want to die.
The people at Cartoon Network told me there was an error in the voice dubbing when they sent out the press release tapes. The Kids Next Door accidently got the Portuguese track on it and no one caught it until it was too late.
The English version was shown on CN.

Wish I'd had time to post a review of the tape CN sent me for TZ -- I actually didn't get to watch it until last week. But that's life on the road for ya.
Of all the pilots, I enjoyed "Captain Sturdy" the most. The WB toon from Mike Milo was amusing too, and I thought "Major Flake" was a hoot (but it would not have made a good animated series, IMO). Really wasn't too impressed with the others.
I think this one was decided on CN's online demographics, not from their viewing audience. I just can't see the 18-30 crowd picking "The Kids Next Door" over all the others, but no offense to Mr. Warburton. I hope it finds an audience on CN.

I thought of some other questions for the Adult Swim staff member:Originally posted by CartoonFridays

1. Have they looked at aquiring the rights to "The Tick: The Animated Series" or "Clerks?" Since the live action show, "Tick" will be airing on FOX this fall, maybe they could get some more viewers by adding the animated "Tick."
2. Are they looking at any animated action cartoons for Adult Swim - possibly "Ninja Boy," which is being done at Warner Bros. Animation?
3. Are they also looking at "The Eltingville Club" animated show as well? The show is by Evan Dorkin and has a pilot being done for Cartoon Network.
Thanks Jon!

I can answer part of this one. Fox has no further plans to relinquish rights to the animated series, nor to sell, not since they gave viewing rights to Comedy Central, which aired Tick at gosh-awful hours. Tick creator Ben Edlund said in San Diego last year that they wouldn't even let them have the rights to use characters from the animated series to use in the live-action one.Originally posted by Vince

I'm not able to stay in contact w/ the CN reps while I'm on the road, but maybe Jon can make an inquiry to answer the other 2 questions.
