Official word on Samurai Jack

Here's the official word on the Samurai Jack toys. This was submitted to www.actionfiguretimes.com by the head of Sam. Jack merchandising...

"** The five 8" Samurai Figures from the commercial, plus a fly 12" Jack are being produced as a limited series by Cartoon Network itself. They were designed by in-house toy star, Rick Watkins.
500 each of the five 8" figures are available as prizes through a sweepstakes on AOL at Keyword Samurai Jack. Entry ends early Monday the 13th. You can also see an image of each toy there. An additional quantity will be available on CartoonNetwork.comís Shop Department later.

This small run was produced to celebrate one of the most revolutionary animated shows in resent memory, if not all time. If demand warrants, further production may be considered, but there are no solid plans at this time.

Samurai Jack VHS, DVD, Advanced Game Boy, and comic treatments are planned for first quarter of 2002.

I should also note, Toonzone posted up pictures & info on their news page. They have also released information that starting SEPTEMBER 1st, Cartoon Network shop will have these toys up for sale. BUT, in limited quantities. I've asked, and apparently this is TRUE!!

Also, depending on the online sales, these 5, 8" figures might see the light of day on retail shelves.
BUT, with the obvious popularity of Samurai Jack, chances are a toy line of some form will be released anyway. Whether Trendmasters gets a new license or not. Makes you wonder.


BUT, this statement noted that the 5, 8" figures were specifically made for the contest. So, what about the 12" figure? The 12 incher will be, at first, sold exclusivly on the CN store. But, it has more chance of showing up at Toys R Us than the other 5 toys!
