Should "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated" be/have been rated TV-PG?
I'm probably going to get bashed for this, but this is a somewhat different case compared to when I wondered if "The Looney Tunes Show" should have been rated TV-Y7-FV (after reading some complaints online about its TV-PG rating.)
But truth be told, even if that is rather TV-PG at times, its sister show is also rather TV-PG half the time, but seems to have been misrated: "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated!" It is rated TV-Y7-FV, yet it's much darker, and contains scenes of extreme violence and quite a few sexual innuendos, not to mention more frightening villains and situations (even if they're still fake.) It's also pretty nightmarish and rather gory at times (almost occasionally exceeding "Zombie Island" levels!)
Now don't get me wrong; I like the show and all, but it's surprisingly edgy, violent and scary for a Scooby-Doo TV series (back in the olden days, they were not allowed to have things bleed or blow up a lot on the show and its spinoffs!)
Or maybe I'm just crazy. But then again, this isn't the first time it's happened: the 1972 Hanna-Barbera sitcom "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" contains some very TV-PG material (in terms of today's ratings), but when Boomerang reran it, they rated it TV-Y7!

Scooby-Doo is fine with the TV-Y7-FV rating. Sure, it may be much darker than its previous shows like Scooby-Doo, Where Are You, but a TV-PG rating would bring the series to be much more violent for kids ages 7 and up. However, The Looney Tunes Show should be rated TV-Y7-FV or a simple TV-G. I barely see any violence/sexual innuendo/hidden messages in it. In Canada, however, Looney Tunes is rated C8 (TV-Y7 in the US), so there's that.

The people up in Standards and Practices probably can't be bothered to describe each program with super in-depth content descriptors, which is most likely why you see a lot of programs on CN being rated TV-PG.
The current rating system, while flawed, is just a quick way for parents to see if the content programmed is suitable for a specific age group. If it were up to me, I'd make it a short message before the program in question describing it slightly more accurately, instead of having some unnecessary ugly white box obscure the program, like it is right now. Just unnecessary visual clutter if you ask me.

OK, I just saw the latest episode "Night Terrors" (hence the thread bump), and it was not only pretty violent, but the ending was really dark too (I won't spoil it), and the whole thing was rather PG-material. "The Looney Tunes Show" doesn't get away with ANYTHING like that very much. So either SD:MI gets re-rated TV-PG, or "The Looney Tunes Show" is re-rated to being simply TV-G.

PG mostly means being 12 and up to watch the show. I dont think kids have to be 12 or older to watch Scooby doo. So I say the TV-Y7-FV rating is fine

OK, but what about "The Looney Tunes Show?" It looks like kids 12 and up don't have to watch that, especially considering how tamer it is than SD:MI, so I think at least "The Looney Tunes Show" should get the TV-Y7-FV rating

While The Looney Tunes Show may be more mature than the old Looney Tunes, it still does not deserve a PG rating. I'd say it should be TV-G

That rating would work even better than TV-Y7-FV!

But doesn't the G ratng mean folks 10 and up? TLS is a bit iffy, but no PG show by any means.

Well in Canada, Looney Tunes is rated C8. A C8 rating is equal to a TV-Y7 rating. So my suggestion is that Looney Tunes should be re-rated either TV-Y7 or TV-G.
CN has gone crazy with the PG rating.
Also, Looney Tunes in Austraila is rated G. So...
