    Toonzone's Cartoon Network 20th Anniversary: 2000

    Like This Thread!
As Cartoon Network entered the new millennium, several changes came:

-The introduction of the Boomerang programming block
-Introduction of T.O.M. 2.0 on Toonami
    -Premiere of Dexter's Ego Trip
-Also, CCF began airing premieres as opposed to just reruns

Back then I thought that CCF intro, was the best thing ever.

2000 was also the year when Cartoon Network actually started their animation studio (Hanna-Barbera licensed the CN Studios name in 1994 for original programming, like Dexter's Laboratory and What A Cartoon!).

And Ego Trip premiered in December of 1999.

Boomerang (T.V. network) began on April Fools Day.

Also, Sheep in The Big City premiered, along with the Robot Jones and Billy and Mandy pilots.

This was the first year I started watching Cartoon Network religiously. Before then it was something I would only watch if nothing was on Disney and/or Nick or if I was at someone else's house.

Also was 2000 the year CCF started to do character hosts?

    Yes, it was.

    A few things I remember:

    -Toonami Full Cycle
    -The Intruder
-America's introduction to Gundam (And HOLY CRAP IS THAT UNCUT?!?!)

A funny bumper from around that time:

Don't forget about the launch of the Boomerang channel (launched on 4/1).

Also, I forgot if it was 2000 or 2001, but Cartoon Network Asia Pacific switched to a 24-hour channel by that time. Like other feeds, it shared it's airtime with TNT Classic Movies.

Here's a fun bumper from CN Asia Pacific

Man, I love that Brak one. Not sure if this is from 2000, but it seems like it would be from around then. It's spoof of late 90's Gap ads. (Just in case you haven't seen what they where spoofing, here's the original commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m_X1Lm7dqo)

And now here's is CN's parody of it (listen to The Red Guy. Hilarious.):
