    Observance Of Today

    Like This Thread!
So, I used to be obsessed with Powerhouse era Cartoon Network. Oddly enough, most of my first posts here were complaints about the downfall of Cartoon Network. I just returned here today, and noticed when I was looking through my old posts that today is the seventh anniversary of the end of Powerhouse Era.

Also.. Cartoon Network is on behind me. Scooby Doo: Mystery's Inc is ending, and the Looney Toons Show is coming on now.

    Life is good.

We all change, my friend; hopefully for the better. I remember when I used to complain non stop about how modern cartoons suck, I've learned to accept them for what they are, unfortunately, I'm waiting to see another cartoon that absolutely wows me like Golden age cartoons, and Animaniacs =) As nerdy as that sounds, admit it, many people are waiting for that exact same thing.

    Welcome back k2323, stay golden.

I'm still depressed about how CN is. Shows like Johnny Test, Mad, and all of the live action shows are completely abhorrent to me. Live action shows on Cartoon Network? Ugh. Especially after the Renaissance Age greats like Dexters, Samurai Jack, and Powerpuff Girls. I'm not much a fan of the Millenium Age (the present) prevalence of heavy flash animation shows like Johnny Test, Almost Naked Animals, and many others. It takes a lot for me to get over the (what I find) lazy and uninteresting look of these shows.

But I've found my niche. Flapjack and Chowder were my first glimpse of hope. When those tapered off Adventure Time and Reg. Show took over. These are some of my favorite shows of all time, no question. And there are other decent shows around. CN's always been my favorite Toon source so as long as they've got something I can enjoy I'll stick around.

King9, I agree with you for the most part, except about Johnny Test and MAD. I'm not a huge fan of either show, nor would I go out of my way to watch/support either, but the fact is that those 2 shows aren't out of place on Cartoon Network because they're both cartoons. Flash animation is still animation, so it still counts.

I'm sure, for the most part, everyone feels this way. There are good shows, like Chowder, and Flapjack, maybe Adventure Time, that actually take on a charming style of humor. Shows like Johnny Test aren't necessarilly terrible, but definatelly are not golden classics either.

As for Flash animation, I don't like it, sorry, but that's how I feel.

No matter how many adjustment, tweaks, custom poses, etc... unless you draw each frame one by one, the animation becomes to mathematical, and wooden. Again, only the auto tween stuff looks wooden, not when the artist draws each frame.

    Yeah that's it exactly!
And you're right Starbro Johnny Test and Mad aren't out of place, I just can't stand them. Did I accidentally make it sound like I enjoy the heavy flash look? I don't.

As an afterthought shouldn't the thread title be "Observation of Today"?

Bit of a nit pick, but you're right, I mentioned it to k2323 when we were working out this morning.
