I did think the CN Town were great commercial blocks, or whatever they're called, but it's nothing to be too upset over.

I mean, when was the last time you saw new episode of Billy & Mandy or KND to begin with? Stations don't really like using characters from finished with shows to promo themselves.

I mean, yeah, CN will still use Powerpuff Girls and Billy & Mandy to represent them outside of the station, but within the channel themselves, they'll of course use their more recent creations.

I would like to see the City theme return and with the new shows too (who would like to see Pops & Flapjack interact?)

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for CN to rehash or relaunch the City bumps. For one thing, networks rarely, if ever, use the same branding style twice. For another, the City bumps were very expensive to make: they had to make original animations for all of those different characters, not to mention how all of the characters had their original voices.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the City bumps like many others here; I really appreciated how CN took the time to actually make new animations for each one and make them look professional, unlike Kids' WB!'s charmless, half-arsed bumps, which just cut and pasted existing animations with badly dubbed-in voices, many of which were provided by random interns rather than the actual voice actors, and which relied heavily on the "belching and farting = comedy gold" mode of thinking. But CN clearly has no desire or intent of bringing them back anytime soon. Games like FusionFall and Punch Time Explosion are as close as we're going to get to having all of the CN stars sharing a singular setting right now.

I personally think the City era wasn't as good as people say it was.

I liked the idea and the concept, but I think it could have been executed slightly better. Also, with the city era and package came a new logo, which many people hated, because they were used to the original one for over 12 years. No need to remind you that it was the time when Cartoon Network started slowly going downhill in terms of programming variety/originality.

The packaging/on-air look looked fairly decent and it felt like a really fresh rebrand, with ALOT of effort put into it, but I don't think it was the best thing Cartoon Network has created (not come up with, that's a different story).

I personally think they never really used the full potential of the look.

It never gave me the same feeling Powerhouse/Checkerboard gave me, you know what I mean? Something that is beyond the network's identity and packaging. It felt to me like it was right infront of your face, but never there for you to actually really see it. For example the current era gives me that feeling of having something extra, a bonus.

But then again I have to agree that City era was probably one of the hardest for Cartoon Network/hired company to produce technically, especially at that time. So congratulations for putting in so much effort and at least trying to bring something new and memorable to the table. It definitely wasn't the worst look they've had. Far from it.

I am going to have to say that the City Era was my favorite era on CN. I didn't mind the new logo at all. In a matter of fact I honestly did not care for the original checkerboard logo. It looked too squished as a station bug.

I don't get what you mean. I don't want to sound harsh but it kind of sound like nostalgia for nostalgia sake.

Really? After the lengthy explanation he gave? If anything, you sound kind of defensive nostalgic

I loved the city era, not as much as the powerhouse era though. Of course, the powerhouse era had really nice programing.

Even if CN were to make new City style bumps, they most likely wouldn't feature the likes of Flapjack, Chowder or The Secret Saturdays, any more than new bumps would include characters from Kids Next Door, Billy & Mandy, The Powerpuff Girls or Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy, for the simple fact that those shows are no longer in production. Networks generally doesn't use characters from defunct shows in original promotions; stuff for outside the channel like Punch Time Explosion, sure, but anything directly made for promoting the channel itself or its' wares is going to feature the casts of the current shows almost exclusively.

I made this list of different parts of the city where certain Cartoon Network characters would live (including outer space for characters in space) but I never did anything with it because, what's the use? CN won't use it and have left that concept a long time ago.

I was thinking of making a CN database website using this concept but I don't have any artistic talent to draw the different parts of city. It would just end up being a plain old text list.

Yeah I'm gonna agree and say City had the best bumps. It was really awesome to see a crossover with absolutely everyone. I'd love to see them bring it back although it probably won't happen, unfortunately.

CN City look was pretty cool I admit, but I really liked the Powerhouse era more because it had a lot more toons, both classic and old, appearing in it.

Well, I was thinking of the continuity bumpers themselves, nor the programming, commercial and such. The Checkerboard and Powerhouse bumpers (with the bezel squares and the backgrounds that changing depending the day) looked somewhat tacky and too "90" sometimes (I liked the music, thought), while I loved the city one the first time I saw it, which hasn't happened with the Noods nor the Check it ones.

On the other hand, if you talk about the programming, the website, the commercials and such, Checkerboard and Powerhouse by a long shot. The time that Time Warner brought Turner until the time AOL brought Time Warner was the best era for Cartoon Network. The programming has the most variety (and adults and kids weren't segregated), the website has the "D. O. C." section, and the commercials were the funnier and really differentiated from the competition (when they made fun of their shows and such). And the channel was absent of those bizarre executive-minded decisions (or at least it wasn't that obvious).
