5 Best CN Originals of all time

    Like This Thread!
    ..in your opinion.

CN Originals do not include shows such as Total Drama Island, Johnny Test, or Pokemon.

    Mine...

5.Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Like CN's Ren and Stimpy. It was sick and twisted. And that's why it was so good.

4.Johnny Bravo. His constant failed attempts at impressing women seemed to never become a cliche.

3.Ed, Edd, n Eddy. It can be random without being bad.

2.Megas XLR. Need I say more?

1.Dexter's Laboratory. Almost all episodes were awesome. Great writing and plots.

    5. Johnny Bravo - made me want to try to pick up ladies... and prayed i would fail to win them over... just to be like him

    4. Powerpuff Girl - i loved it to death... without a doubt one of their great series

    3. Samurai Jack - dont know if this one counts (no idea if its an original series or not tbh) but still great

    2. Ed, Edd n' Eddy - the very first cartoon i saw on CN ... and the very first cartoon i fell in love with on CN

    1. Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy - ive not seen any other show on CN that made me love it as much as this... dark, funny, great over all... best show CN has ever had imo

Honorable Mention- Foster's Home .... one of the last great cartoons CN has had on (Chowder and Flapjack while good... arent on the same level as Fosters imo)

Actually, they are if you take the time to explain your choices as opposed to simply rattling off names/titles.

Ed Edd and Eddy - I found it amusing how they oversized the jawbreakers and they only cost a nickel for one *at least that's what Eddy said in one of the episodes*

Kids next door - It was clever how the artists made weapons out of house hold materials and things you could just find lying around.

Reuroni Kenshin - Had the best plot out of any show that I have ever come across and it was backed up with awesome fight scenes

DBZ - I eventually grew impatient of waiting for them to come out with the new episodes so I just bought every DVD I could find XD The show made me want to work out at an early age cause I wanted to be as big as the characters. *I was a little one so be nice *

Dexters Labratory - I could relate to this show because I grew up with two older sisters that would always touch my things and annoy the living day lights out of me. I was never bored in any episode they had.

I have a few more but I'm going to leave it at 5 XD

Rouroni Kenshin and Dragon Ball Z aren't CN originals.

    Anyway, here's mine:

The Powerpuff Girls- It was such a nutty, way-out concept, but it worked. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a male who enjoyed this--up to the post-movie episodes.

Megas XLR- A perfect blend of insane action and pop-culture mockery. An underrated classic.

Class of 3000- Opinions of this show were mixed, but I liked it. A cool blend of music and comedy, and I liked the cast. I felt it was terminated too early.

The Secret Saturdays- A cooler Johnny Quest, with legendary beasties, nifty gadgets, and a hot mom who can kick butt.

Chowder- One of the best shows to come down CN's pike in recent years. I love its' whimsical oddball originality, the concept and the characters, even if some of the recent epsiodes have been kind of up and down.

*I realize that we're only supposed to choose 5, but I have to toss in an additional choice:

The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack- As prepared as I was to write this show off as a Chowder clone when I first heard about it, I was soon enticed by its' allure of surreal silliness and stark grossness.

    5. Ed, Edd n Eddy - A very good cartoon that had a nice endless summer theme. Nice cast of characters and rememberable moments. It made you appreciate being a kid.

    4. The Powerpuff Girls - A cartoon that transcends all ages and genders. Who knew a show about 3 little super powered girls would be so action packed and so gosh darn funny? PPG definitely has rememberble moments as well as a rememberable cast of characters who each bring their own style of funny to the table.

    3. The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy - While I never really could grasp the idea of Grim being their slave rather than their friend, it was still a good cartoon with lots of strange moments. As well as lots of slapstick to go around. Billy & Mandy was a show that was prematurely taken away from us.

    2. Dexter's Lab - What cannot be said about this? Funny characters, weird moments, silly moments, action packed moments, it had it all.

    1. Cow & Chicken - One of the funniest cartoons EVER! A mom and dad who were just legs (and upper lower torso), antagonistic devil, boneless relatives, hilarious side-splitting moments and tons on innuendo from all sides. Cow & Chicken is one of the few cartoons that can make me laugh until I cry/hurt years after it was canceled.

Then how come they happen all the time in the General Animation forum? The rule is to give reasons for your picks rather than just list them.

These are not Cartoon Network originals. When we say "originals" we mean they were created by Cartoon Network Studios.

    1. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends - Probably one of my all-time favorite cartoons. A mostly-excellent run of shows which covered all kinds of plots and themes (Comedy, action, adventure, mystery, romance, horror... even moments of earnest drama) within a 22-minute-per-episode format that allowed the story and characters to breathe, setting it apart from just about every other CN comedy original. And it featured a varied cast of regulars and recurring character, with a couple of them (Frankie and Wilt) having some of the best characterizations I have ever seen in a children's show. The animation/art style is vivid, gorgeous and by far the best use of Flash in a TV cartoon. And the TV movies -- House of Bloo's, Good Wilt Hunting and Destination Imagination -- were wonderful stories that masterfully blended the show's usual witty humor and zany twists with a poignant, dramatic story which explored themes of loneliness and friendship with such honesty and sincerity that isn't commonly seen on kids cartoons.

    2. Samurai Jack - The most epic and captivating action/adventure cartoon I've ever seen. Hopefully Genndy and co. eventually make that rumored movie to properly finish Jack's story.

    3. Ed, Edd & Eddy - I laughed so damn hard watching their antics as a child (though I haven't watched it in years). The squiggly animation is bizzare yet perfect for the absurdity of the show. I always sympathized with Double-D as the hapless center to Ed's insanity and Eddy's egotism.

    4. The Powerpuff Girls - Sweet and innocent yet with a savvy edge underneath. Mojo Jojo is one of the greatest characters ever invented.

    5. Flapjack / The Secret Saturdays - A tie between my two favorite current CN originals. Flapjack is gut-bustingly hilarious to watch -- Flap, K'Nuckles and Bubbie are a pitch-perfect trio; each of their individual quirks contribute to a very satisfying whole. And TSS is the smartest and coolest of their current action toons -- great writing, detailed animation, and solid continuity.

Wow, sorry, didn't think everybody was going to get so insulted over 2 shows I found entertaining in text -_-
They may not have been created by CN studios, but I still consider them originals because they aired for a pretty long time and made a fan base rather quickly. I guess it all depends on what your definition of "original" is.

No one was "insulted". Your personal picks may have left a few people scratching their heads, but they weren't offended. They have no reason to be. They were just stating an obvious fact: that only cartoons that Cartoon Network studios had a hand in creating can be considered CN originals. 3rd party acquisitions don't count because CN Studios didn't produce Ruroni Kenshin or Dragon Ball Z, they only aired them. How long they ran and how big a fanbase they attracted doesn't make them any less 3rd party acquisitions, so that is irrelevant in this case.

    Anyway, my pics would be:

The Powerpuff Girls - A perfect blend of superhero action and slapstick comedy. 3 kindergarten age girls who kick butt with super powers? What's not to like?

Megas XLR - Think Clerks meets Red Dwarf and The Tick and you'll have some idea what this show was about. It was great.

Chowder - Absurdist, surreal humor and a very original premise.

The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack- Admittedly, I don't like this one quite as much as I do Chowder, but still, Flapjack is definitely memorable for how absurdist and surreal the shows' universe is.

The Secret Saturdays - A modern day Johnny Quest that's not a boys club the way that JQ was. Drew for the win.

The unceasingly annoying character of Dee-Dee prevents me from listing Dexter's Lab here.

5.) Time Squad - This show was so funny with all the time traveling, and it was how I became smart

4.) Johnny Bravo - It's just so funny how he always fails at at trying to get women, it never gets old!

3.) Dexter's Laboratory - The show was friggin' hilarious, it made me want to have a lab. I actually remember finding a door that led into a semi-big room in my room, and I used to pretend that was my lab.

2.) Sheep in the Big City - The show has really great humor in every episode, I don't know why it's not on Boomerang yet.

1.) Megas XLR - This show has a perfect blend of action and comedy, it manages to crack me up in every episode and the action is great. It's an awesome show and I don't know why it's not on DVD yet.....

    1) Megas XLR: Obvious lol, Megas was one of the CN originals that bring up alot of memories when i was a kid like 80's and video games reference and the anime, movies parodies.

    2) The Secret Saturdays: A mixed of Johnny Quest with the Real Ghostbusters, the good thing about this show is that they don't focus on one character but an entire family but of course Drew's for the win.

    3) The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack: This cartoon cracks me up, aside of having Brian Doyle-Murray as Captain K´nuckles the characters and stories are really fun to watch.

    4) Samurai Jack: Classic cartoon with nice action and plots to which as today we are still waiting for an ending.

    5) Chowder: Like Flapjack, some of the episodes are funny but what really caught my attention is the stuff they used like puppets and other weird things they add that makes this cartoon funny.

Maybe insulted wasn't the best word to use, more like irritation towards text. : /
I don't recall them being on any other TV program except CN, so in my opinion as long as I don't live in Japan I consider it a CN original.
But since it troubles people so much I'll change my

Ed Edd and Eddy - I found it amusing how they oversized the jawbreakers and they only cost a nickel for one *at least that's what Eddy said in one of the episodes*

Kids next door - It was clever how the artists made weapons out of house hold materials and things you could just find lying around.

Fosters Home - Hilarious show that made having an imaginary friend seem cool.

XLR - I loved how the cockpit controls resembled that of a modern day car and how an average joe was in control :P

Dexters Labratory - I could relate to this show because I grew up with two older sisters that would always touch my things and annoy the living day lights out of me. I was never bored in any episode they had.

    1. Ed Edd n Eddy -this show had great characters and memorable plots
    2. Kids Next Door -this show reminded me about being elementary school age again and I liked it since the pilot episode in the big pick weekend 2001
    3. Dexter's Lab -I think I would of had this at #2 if the newer episodes weren't so blah.
    4. Cow & Chicken -It was so random it was funny
    5. I honestly can't decide between Foster's, Billy & Mandy, and Flapjack.
An authentic blend of 23 flavors

I'm surprised at all the mentions of Billy & Mandy. I never really enjoyed that show, mostly because it was just too mean-spirited and Mandy's Villain Sue-ness got on my nerves.

    As for my picks...

    5. The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. This show deserves major props for being a comedy that avoids nearly all comedy cliches. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this show's bizarre style of humor became a cliche of its own a few years down the road, much like Invader Zim's did.

    4. The Powerpuff Girls. I never actually watched this much as a kid, but I've caught re-runs more frequently on Boomerang and it's got the same kind of great off-beat humor that Samurai Jack had.

    3. Edd, Edd, & Eddy. This show got really creative with its cartoon gags and takes as it went on (Ed swallowing his bed whole and taking on its shape comes to mind). It also helps that it had really nice animation, with a cool, loose, sketchy look to it.

    2. Megas XLR. Who doesn't dig giant robots? Really, it's humor and action were both spot-on, and the carefree attitude about the whole thing meant that even when things went bad it was still goofy and you could laugh at it. On top of that, I loved Megas' design and how it mixed the classic giant robot look with the style of a tricked-out car.

    1. Samurai Jack. This is, hands down, my favorite cartoon of all time. When it wanted to be funny it was absolutely hilarious, when it wanted to be action-packed it couldn't be beat, and when it wanted to be emotional it was tear-jerking. Plus, it's just so different from so much other stuff out there that it's simply refreshing to watch.

Ed, Edd, n' Eddy is my favorite CN Original, as well as favorite TV show overall. The art as well as the likeable cast of characters are what drew me towards the show. Their high jinks to get jawbreakers is what really tickles my funny bones. I have been a fan a looong time. I think I saw every episode.

My others, in no particular order, are-
Dexter's Lab- Have watched the kid genius ever since I watched it at a cousin's house long ago in the 90's. Didn't get cable until 2002 though.
    Johnny Bravo- Same as Dexter.
Courage the Cowardly Dog- I have been a fan ever since the marathon that one fateful October in 2002.
Tie between Foster's, KND, Samurai Jack, Flapjack for the last spot.

Adventure Time looks like it has all the stuff I like to be on this list at the end of the year.

So many originals to choose so hard to pick good ones....Anyways here's mine.

    5. Dexter's lab- Probably the most funniest show, pretty creative episodes for the beginning of the show but the rest of it was blah.

    4. Courage the cowardly dog- Has sick humor and its a great cartoon. I'm into creepy stuff lol.

    3. Class of 3000- I heard about mixed things about this show, I admit that the show had some pretty creative character designs and good animation but however it was one of those cartoons that gave away the humor. BTW....John K did a music video for this show.

2.Samurai Jack- I noticed a quite a few members have been picking this one. I would also have to pick this one because its just completely awesome.

    1. Ed, Edd, n, eddy- Dare I say it...The best cartoon that I've ever watched. The humor is great, the animation is just off the wall awesome and the music is just good. I hope the movie comes to US soon.

That would be like me saying Final Fantasy is my favorite Sony original series game, because it was only on the Playstation brand for so long. >_>
