CN TB: Pokémon D/P Battle Dimension “A Crasher Course in Power!” [11/22] (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!

Ash, Brock and Dawn continue their adventures through the land of Sinnoh, meeting some brand new Pokémon, rivals, and challenges along the way!

    Recently:
Dawn’s most recent contest was at the Wallace Cup, where she won her second ribbon against May.
Jessie caught/stole a Yamma which evolved into a Yammega.
Ash and Paul had yet another epic battle, where Ash got to see Chimchar’s true power first hand.
Their battle ended in a tie, adding to this already epic rivalry.
The Pokemon Ranger special also aired where Ash saved a Riolu from Hunter J and her client.

    Last Time”
    “Cream of the Croagunk Crop!”
Ash has made it to Pastoria City, the sight of his next Gym Battle. But before gym leader Crasher Wake will battle Ash for his fourth gym badge, he is going to go to the Croagunk festival. Brock enters the festival and makes it to the final round, where he will battle the raining Croagunk champion Hamilton. The battle is interrupted by Team Rocket, of course. But it isn’t Brock, or Ash who saves the day, in fact it is Nurse Joy and her Croagunk who saves all the other Croagunk from Team Rocket. After this, Nurse Joy’s Croagunk is named the champion for this year.

    This Time:
    “A Crasher Course in Power!”
    Saturday, November 22nd @ 9:00am
Ash will now have his battle against Crasher Wake for his fourth gym badge. Ash will go 3-on-3 against the water type gym leader. Will Ash earn his fourth gym badge, or will he have to have a rematch with this very powerful gym leader?

    Notes:
Remember, new episodes are now at 9am, not 9:30.
Extra episodes of Pokemon are on at 8:00am weekdays.
Later today you can catch Movie 8: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
And there will be no episode next week.

A nice message of teamwork, and Ash gets a badge by winning a match this time. But I thought it was unfair that Ash substited twice in one match. There should be a limit rule stating that the challanger can only substitute once buring a match.

The line of the episode, was Meowth saying he has soul. That was hillarous.

I don't really see what the problem is: There are no rules on when you can subsistute Pokemon if you're not the Gym Leader in Gym Leader battles. It's actually part of the strategy when facing them: Find out which ones they'er using and if you're not using one with a strong enough attack or balanced defense, switch it out. So actually switching out in order to unconfuse a Pokemon or seeing it's damaged and not wanting to see it get knocked is actually a GOOD thing, not a thing to criticize. Really this actually shows Ash using a bit more strategy then we usually see of him in these kind of battles since he would more stick with one Pokemon and make the occasional switch. Besides for once not all but one Pokemon were taken out by the end of a battle. Wouldn't it be annoying if that was the pattern for EVERY Gym Batlte? I'm glad to see them switch it up for this one with all the... switching stuff.
Instead of just using this new signature to celebrate a thousand more post, let me list of all the great things you can expect of me on this board for 2012:

...... The same talkbacks you saw me do last year but with new episodes.

.... What are you doing still reading this? Move to the next post already! .

This was a pretty good episode. I liked seeing how Buizel was so set on facing against Wake's Pokemon. Too bad that it got mad at Pikachu for that accident with its Thunderbolt. I did like seeing Wake's Floatzel before the battle started. It looked so tough and cool. I was surprised to see Wake's Gyarados was taken out so quickly. I know that Pikachu is strong and all, but I was expecting it to put up a stronger fight than that. Quagsire put up a better fight than Gyarados did, but that's not saying much. I was surprised with its use of Ice Beam against Turtwig. At least Buizel came and defeated Quagsire with that Ice Aqua Jet. Man, I love that move so much. It just looks so awesome.

It was interesting to see how Floatzel was so much stronger than Wake's other Pokemon. Even though Buizel's Water Pulse wasn't working at first, I did love to see how it was forming it like Lucario's Aura Sphere. I was also surprised to see how different Ice Fang was in the anime than I originally thought that it would be. I guess that they didn't want Pokemon to physically bite each other with ice cold fangs. It still looked pretty cool to me. I was shocked that Wake called his Floatzel the strongest Water Pokemon. I would believe that was his strongest Water Pokemon, but not like the strongest one in the whole world. I was glad that Buizel eventually made up with Pikachu with tagging in and even got rid of that ice patch on its back.

I totally loved seeing how, little by little, Buizel was causing more damage to Floatzel with moves like Sonic Boom and Water Pulse. It was so awesome to see how Buizel eventually won and it was shocking to see that Ash did not lose a single one of his Pokemon during the match. Outside of this match and techincally his match against Lucario, it always comes down to his last Pokemon to win the battle. They had Buizel tie with Lucario in his last match and now he didn't lose a single Pokemon in this one. I don't mind that change with his gym battle style at all. I also don't see a problem with the trainers being able to recall their Pokemon like that. It does show Ash giving more thought to his strategy in this match, rather than pretty much keeping his Pokemon out there when they're too weak to battle. Besides, putting limitations on the challengers like that sounds more unfair to me. I did like seeing the ending with Buizel and Pikachu making up and Ash getting his fourth badge at all.

Overall, it was a fun episode. I did like the twist with having Ash not lose a single Pokemon during the match. This wasn't better or just as good as his match against Lucario, though what could be really, but it was still a nice battle. I'll be looking foreword to see the next new episode in a couple of weeks from now.

Well, on the topic of subistution, i think there should be some kind of limiting rule. Not as to how many times you can subistute but how frequently you can substute. Like you can only substitute once every 3 minuets, or something like that. Now I do remember Ash against Annabel called back one of his pokemon then brough it right back out. Now I don't think you should be able to do that just to heal confusion. You should being out a different pokemon after you return another one.

As for the battle, I was impressed at the way Ash handled himself. He was in control of the battle the entire time. He took a quick lead by defeating Garyados and he put the pressure on Wake. He used the substuting rule to his advantage (becuase there are no restrictions on it). I knew once he defeated two of Wake's pokemon without losing a single one of his, well, Ash had this one in the bag at this point. Now what suprised me is that Ash still mananged to win this battle without any of his pokemon getting knocked out. I believe that this is one of Ash's most dominating wins.

Ash using Ice Aqua Jet again. Wake didn't see what hit him. I was impressed. And Floatzel using that defence move, that was pretty cool. That made it by far Wake's strongest pokemon. Now, I thought Floatzel used more than 4 moves, but I doubled checked and Floatzel used just 4, Ice Fang, Razor Wind, Whrilpool, and Bulk Up.

Impressive win by Ash. Not just one where he just barily won, but one where he just dominated (for the most part).
