    Too much attention?

    Like This Thread!
I don't mean to offend any ppg fans, but is it just me, or do the powerpuff girls seem to be getting all the attention out of all the Cartoon Cartoons. I mean, if you notice, you see a lot of merchandise of them every turn in the stores, and they're getting a feature length movie (Dexter only has an hour special, "Ego Trip," and most of the other Cartoon Cartoons don't have any specials). So, I'd say the powerpuffs are getting a bit too much attention out of Cartoon Network.

I did say "Yes" in the poll and all, but it does have a large fanbase. That's why we see all the merchandise and the feature film coming out. They are getting the most attention.

But Dexter's Laboratory had a lot of attention a couple or so years ago. Remember that summer when that contest was on? Where CN would re-create your bedroom into a laboratory with a new computer and you would receive a Dexter's Laboratory DVD?

Even though I like PPG just fine, I totally agree with Eddy_girly!
Everywhere you look, there they are! There's even gonna be a movie about them. Some of the other Cartoon Cartoons are even better than the PPG and they don't get the attention they deserve!!

Or even some of the lesser known/popular/rated Cartoon Cartoons -- Sheep and Grim & Evil.

I don't know, but I remember CN trying to promote it a little, at least. It had a good spot before on CCFs. Don't remember if it does now.

edit: Yeah, it did last Friday at least, at 9 PM.

More people need to start watching the least popular cartoons (Grim & Evil, Sheep, ect: than THEY will start getting more popular. There are other cartoons worth watching. My dad said the more peaople watching a show, the more popular it will get.

A lot of people watch Ed, Edd n Eddy, yet it's only 3rd in popularity.

    hrmm....::makes a thoughtful face::::

I agree. the reason there's so much merchandise is because of the upcoming movie release. It's just a simple fact of life: we're bombarded with a bunch of marketing crap so we're brainwashed and powerless to resist going to see their movie. Must....call.....moviephone....

The Powerpuff Girls wouldn't be getting so much attention if people weren't watching it. Honestly, it's not one of my favorites, and it gets annoying when it overshadows other shows that are equally good, or in my opinion even better. Shows like Sheep in the Big City and Grim and Evil dont' even get a chance to get a strong fanbase because of the constant publicity of the Powerpuff Girls....even Dexter's Lab has been a culprit of overexposure.

er...yea...I voted "Yes." But for the most part, I dont' blame CN, they're just giving the people what they want. And for reasons beyond me, all the people seem to want are powerpuff Girl hair barrettes and coloring books...go figure.

The Eds should get a little bit more attention, just cause' they haven't got any in a long time

The PPG getting too much attention? By who? The network is only promotion them right now for the simple fact of the movie. The Powerpuff Girls get one of the highest ratings on the network, neck-to-neck with Scooby Doo (no lie). I think they have been getting attention by the fans long before the network started to over promote it more.

I like the PPG and I am a guy. Of course, I got into the show very early on before anybody really knew about it, when it was only on Wednesday night. And I think they reran it on Sunday night. It wasn't a high profile show back then, and it had the feel of a great alternative cartoon (which it started out as.) I don't think it was ever intended to become a girl's cartoon, Cartoon Network just marketed it that way. But the humor and style of the show can appeal to a wide range of people.

The only stigma I got for liking the show was when the merchandising began. Before, it was no big deal I liked the PPG, but suddenly I would be picked on for liking it from people I knew. Well, tough, I like it and to me it's still a great alternative cartoon and forget what everybody else says. The people who pick on me about it never watch the show anyway, they just see the toys in the store marketed to little girls.

I watched it then too. Yes I remember those days.

Remember the promo when they got out of class to save the day?

I think CN spends the most $$$ on the PPG than any of their other cartoons (which still isn't that much). Maybe even more than JL and SJ, but I'm not sure.
