Saturday Night TOONAMI Propels 75% Ratings Increases for Target Tweens 9-14
Kids’ Total Day Delivery, Ratings Also Jump by Double Digits among Kids 6-11, 2-11
Following its record-setting prime time and kids’ total day performance in 2004, Cartoon Network launched into 2005 with a 41% prime time ratings increase and a 42% delivery jump among its bull’s-eye target audience, kids 6-11, according to Nielsen Media Research. Kids 2-11 and tweens 9-14 delivery and ratings also saw dramatic improvement in prime time, thanks primarily to the “Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi New Year’s Eve Party” (Friday, 7 p.m.-12 a.m.), which featured back-to-back episodes of top original series, and TOONAMI (Saturday 7-11 p.m.), Cartoon Network’s signature franchise of animé action-adventure. Prime time highlights vs. the same time period last year include the following:
Prime Time (Monday-Sunday, 8-11 p.m.)
Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi New Year’s Eve Party (Friday, 7 p.m.-12 a.m.)
- Kids 6-11 delivery (759,000) expanded by 42% and ratings (3.1) by 41%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,074,000) improved by 16% and ratings (2.7) by 17%.
- Tweens 9-14 delivery (502,000) increased by 44% and ratings (2.0) by 43%.
TOONAMI (Saturday, 7-11 p.m.)
- Kids 6-11 delivery (767,000) advanced by 46% and ratings (3.2) by 45%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,014,000) rose by 12% and ratings (2.6) by 13%.
Cartoon Network’s kids’ total day performance also showed significant improvement across the board. All target demos increased delivery and ratings by powerful double digits as described below in comparison to the same time period last year:
- Kids 9-14 delivery (512,000) catapulted by 72% and ratings (2.1) by 75%.
- Kids 6-11 delivery (692,000) and ratings (2.9) both surged by 38%.
Kids’ Total Day (Monday-Sunday, 6 a.m. - 6 a.m., kids’ programming))
I dont get it. How could a simple Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi marathon get such great ratings?
- Kids 6-11 delivery (635,000) raced ahead by 38% and ratings (2.6) by 37%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (911,000) and ratings (2.3) both rose by 21%.
- Tweens 9-14 delivery (397,000) grew by 31% and ratings (1.6) by 33%.
But toonami gets a 75% ratings increase! Very nice!

If they're comparing it to last year, of course the kids ratings would improve. It was up against Adult Swim.
Im confused. Wouldnt the new years eve marathon ratings be compared to a friday night last year?Originally Posted by livingfruitvirus

Toonami is PWNING SVES to the max.
I also assume that Kenshin is doing A LOT better than SEED did.

No. Why would they compare it to some random Friday from 2003?Originally Posted by gundam123

Toonami's ratings increases are measured against the Saturday from that week in the previous year, so wouldn't a Friday New Years Eve be measured against the Friday from the previous year rather than a Wednesday New Years Eve?Originally Posted by livingfruitvirus
Because that friday wasn't a New Years Eve. They are measuring it against New Years Eve of last year. The probably do the same with Christmas and Thanksgiving ratings.

1 Question
Is it beating Nick?
I think it's beating Nick in prime time overall and maybe in 5-7PM but Nick's shows slaughter everything in the big numbers. Some CN shows do well enough to make the top 30 but Nick's shows dominate the list.
