First let me say this. I am a big fan of EEnE. However one thing that has always amazed me is how that show lasted 4 seasons. The first two seasons in my opinion were pretty sorry. Not that bad, but bad enough to make me wonder why the show was given a second, and apparently third chance. The one thing that is undisputable is that above all, is that the cartoon network execs care for money. If a show can't pull in the dough, off it goes.
I remember hating EEnE a couple years back, especially after seeing the premier and I would much rather watch anything else, including Nick-at-Nite. Only in college, when I was too lazy to switch the channel did I start to like the show. Personally no one at my high school ever watched EEnE, and many people still thinks it sucks. Most of them are like this after seeing the first two seasons, and are not willing to give the third (and fourth) a chance.
Can anyone tell me why EEnE has been on so long? I thought it would cancelled after the first season and definately after the second. Was it earning in some money, enough to keep it going. Or was it sold at such a low price that CN would have been stupid not to take it. A combination? Or maybe they were lucky enough to get s 3-4 season deal with CN. Does anyone now the reason why.
I go forward because I can not go back.

I watch it because its different. Its part squiggle vision, part Three Stooges, part Charlie Brown. Its so different from anything else on TV, I wonder why more people don't give it a second chance. I've talked to many, and the first reaction is the visuals.
The reason it is still on is because the AKA Cartoon company that makes the show signed a one season order back in 1998. When it came time to renew the program for 99, the network thought it was strong enough to keep going. The "Eds" was a show that tested well with kids, and still is one of the highest rated programs on the network for kids 2-11. By the time the newest season premiered, the numbers for ratings, as well as fans, spoke for itself.
I don't think CN is keeping the show because it's "cheap to make". Its traditional cel animation, which is probably more expensive than "Foster's" is per episode. The plus side is that the program was an original one, and does great for the demographics. Plus its about kids without having them go through the droll "school" stuff you see the Rugrats and every other cartoon on the air these days.

It's my favorite show on CNBut my opinion of the first episodes is bad. Words cannot describe how much the show has improved over the years. It's a shame that episodes take longer to make this way, but I think you'll agree it's worth the wait

Anywho, I didn't really like the show at first either, but I'm that way about alot of shows. After watching it for awhile, I grew to love it. They aren't perfect kids that do no harm, and they're not crazy "destroy all things adult" kids. They're pretty close to normal and that's one of the things that makes me like it more. It's one of the best cartoons out there right now. Even my dad like Ed, Edd, and Eddy, that makes me chuckle.
Well, yeah. Most high schoolers wouldn't admit to watching, or they maybe they just like crappy teenage drama more. CN doesn't aim towards them anyway (even though they should *grumbles*).Originally Posted by ktoriyama

One good thing about EE&E is that it's the only CC that has actually managed to improve as seasons go by. The ones that have been revived (Dexter, Johnny Bravo, PPG) have decreased a lot in quality for the new episodes, while all the others have pretty much stayed the same. EE&E actually managed to make better stories, funnier takes, more professional animation and better characterization in the later seasons.
Compare any episode from season 4 to the early years of the show, it's amazing how much it has improved.

Very trueBut I wouldn't say PPG's have gotten worse. I like the newer episodes of that. But yah, the Eds are what all animators should strive to be like ^^
I never thought the first two seasons were that bad.

You and I wish. Fosters costs twice as much as Ed Edd n Eddy. Remember they're paying AMERICAN animators an AMERICAN wage, not the cheapass Korean wage that Koreans can barely survive on.Originally Posted by CookieS
What? I thought AKA Studios was based in Canada, along with the animators.

Go. I insist.
EE&E has to be one of the biggest improvements in quality over early episodes I've seen since Hey Arnold and Dexter's 2nd seasons.
Seriously, when the show first premiered, I HATED it. If the new episodes were of the same quality as Season 1, I still would. The animation was ugly and less stylish, the characters were more annoying than they've ever been in later seasons, and the jokes just weren't funny. Season 2 made some changes, and by Season 3 the show was fantastic. It just baffles me.
The lasted this long because it had decent ratings (ratings did not become great until 2002) and it was under a contract for 4 seasons. Now, because the ratings and popularity is so good that they gave the show another 2 seasons.
I do not think that the old episodes are bad, in fact I like them. I like the show so much because it shows kids doing the exact same thing me and my friends used to do when we were kids: Trying to scam the other kids for money to go buy candy. It is really a brilliant series and shows what summer break is supposed to be like.
