Christmas Special Talkback: Ed's Jingle Jingle Jangle!

    Like This Thread!

Ed, Edd n Eddy: Jingle Jingle Jangle

It's Once Again Time For a CNF Talkback

Ed! Edd! Eddy! on ALL DECEMBER LONG!

    Synopsis (Credit: Matt Wilson)

This special is not about jawbreakers or get-rich-quick schemes, but Eddy is still the same old egomaniac. When he sneaks a peak at his presents early and they all turn out to be clothes, Eddy panics and starts a devious campaign to get presents from the other kids in the cult-de-sac, while Ed and Double D try to convince him of the other, less materialistic virtues of Christmas.
    .

    NOTES

    • I tired to make it so you can talk about this whenever. Not just tonight since it will air a ton over the next few weeks
    • For 12/03/04 it premieres at 8pm. It Reruns at 11:30pm and 3am.
    • Matt has reviewed it! See here!
    • I have also seen it, and here are my thoughts:

      "It was freakin awesome.

The Animation has improved [and it was already great] the color is now sharper and at its best, and the characters were at their best.

Awesome episode. One of the best of EEnE."
      Let's Begin!

    Anyway, Johnny's creepy.

Heh. "Rolf does not take requests."

And this episode continues to show just how evil Plank is. And everyone is really good so far.

Eddy's scams to get into Johnny and Rolfs houses were pretty good but the best part so far was the weirdness of Ed carrying the chimney into his room! whats with the utters though?

Eddy just shot himself in the foot, and Nazz was so willing too.

Better before what? The show's been digitally colored since season 4. They chose a winter mood palette for this special. Why wouldn't they? And if you look at various episodes in the series, they all have various color settings for different times of the day. It's night time in the winter, so those are the colors they chose.

Actually if you look at the 'fake clip show' episode you can see what I mean too, where one of the "clips" is set at sunset and everyone has different coloring/shading than they usually do.

I don't know, it just looked too bright to me. I guess it's probably just because I haven't watched EEnE in a while.

Interesting special, pretty funny all the way through although I think some characters were pretty out of character.

Almost puts me in the holiday spirit!

Excellent animation, a tight pace that made the 30 minutes go by fast, and a unique take on a somewhat unoriginal idea. Everyone was true to character, and each house provided new annoyances. I probably found Nazz's the funniest. "You know what happens when someone stands under the mistletoe..." (Eddy spits the egg nog on her)

Only flaw? It wasn't quite as funny as most Ed, Edd, & Eddy episodes, although I laughed hard at the recreation of the birth of Jesus at the end. Didn't see that coming at all. GRADE: A

EDIT: This is tied for my favorite animated Christmas specials with "You Can't Squeeze Cheer From a Cheese Log" and "The Santa Experience".

    I'll give it a B.

Not the most exciting thing in the world, but overall it was good. The best part was Eddy at Jimmy's house. Jimmy is so weak! It would have been cool to see him take the situation into his own hands though, but what else do you expect from him?

I think it was a typical Ed episode to begin with anyway. Eddy still doesn't seem to have much faith for others, and the Kankers still love the Eds, you think they may get into dating someone else in the Valentine's special though? (try and see Kevin with one of them for a minute)

And it did take me a bit to get the whole idea of the gifts before the end. Good knockoff though. And remember, don't forget Boxing Day! (well, the Canadian people that is)
Be sure to catch 24 every Monday at 9pm Eastern on Fox (and 10pm Eastern on Global). Watch it, because you know you're brighter than Michael Irvin.

It was ok. I really liked it when Eddy found the true meaning of Christmas. I didn't except him to go back his normal self after the gifts were delivered by Santa.

I loved it. My favorite part was when Eddy discovered the true meaning of Christmas, only to dump it a few minutes later by stealing Santa's sack of presents.

Didn't like the ending, but the rest was amazing. But, I like how they sneak in the true true true meaning of Christmas in the end.

The visual gags like the birth of Christ scene and Ed moving the chimney were just hilarious. The rest of the funny moments were very character based, Nazz had probably the best scene im my opinion.

The writing in general is really good, for a show that goes so over the top they really do capture that sort of vulgar nature that comes with teenage boys. Eddy's the best example of this, "Your touching my utter," is just something that my dumber friends of my Pokemon Red playing days would say.

The only two things that seemed a little off were Double Dee and the music. Double Dee kind of lost some of the development as a smartass that he's gotten over recent episodes, minor gripe though. The music was a little odd to me, not bad really, it was different, not sure if it's a good different or not.

It was ok. I really liked it when Eddy found the true meaning of Christmas. I didn't except him to go back his normal self after the gifts were delivered by Santa.
I thought the lame cliche dialogue had an almost sarcastic tone to it that I couldn't help to see the "Gotcha!" coming.

    I should've done a review, too

I liked this, worked on both a holiday and general EEnE level. They did a great job of giving everyone their fair screen time, though I found Nazz and Jimmy to be the most entertaining; even though you could kind of predict Eddy ruining his chances to be with Nazz, it was executed well enough that it was still really funny. Even the Kankers were good (mold, franks and cents, and fur =( ).
It recently dawned on me that my signature could be interpreted as being said by me. For the record, this was not the case. If the previous signature reduced your opinion of me, please increase your opinion. Thank you.

Great animation, nice artwork overall, some excellent background music when it wasn't the usual jazz riffs that I'm so used to hearing that I completely tune them out. Solid writing for most part, each segment was brisk and keep things flowing. The scenes focusing on the Eds themselves were the best, and in fact this episode could have used a few more of those; the Eds are so well-developed as characters and three of them play off of each other so fantastically at this point in the series, that honestly, the other kids of the cul-de-sac are kind of starting to lose their collective spark, at least in my eyes. There's a reason why the show is called "Ed, Edd n' Eddy". Yeah, the ending was weak and unoriginal, but I'm pretty much convinced at this point that every cartoon writer ON EARTH has completely forgotten how to write a decent ending, so in some ways it was a foregone conclusion. So for the most part, an excellent episode that shows just how far EEnE has come as a series.

Did anyone else notice how visually detailed the backgrounds are, animation wise anyway. They still had their EEnE touch, but they had small little details, like flashing lights. One major example of this is when Eddy is on Kevin's doorstep, look in the background, theres a house with smoke actually animated and moving out of the chimney of the house.

I loved it,I've been a fan of the show since the beginning. I liked it better when Double D was sarcastic too Eddy, but I also like it when he's sweet and caring toward his friends people were questioning whether or not Eddy and Double D were really still true friends well theirs your answer people. Double D helped Eddy in this entire episode proving that he was a true good friend to Eddy, not so much as the other way around though, but eh Eddy's always been like that but he's still a very funny, and a very likable character. Is it just me or have the writers been picking on poor Double D lately in the past newer episodes he seems to always get hurt more than any other character in the episode take today’s special that was aired, poor guy, got thrown into Ed's brick wall and got hurt pretty dang bad. Than he got stuck to a board at the end, because of his Angel costume, than in "Ed Marx the Spot" Double D got hurt bad in that episode. I don't know he just seems to be the one character the writers like seeing get hurt, I feel bad for him. He's my favorite character of the show and it hurts me inside seeing him get hurt that badly. Oh sorry going off topic, any who the animation was brilliant, the story, loved it and Eddy finally finding the true meaning of Christmas was great except for the ending after he Stoll the presents oh well. And yah Eddy defiantly lost his chance with Nazz, she was trying to kiss him for peat’s sake and he spits egg nog out at her causing her to kick the poor guy out. My guess is that the Valentines Day special will have Double D winning Nazz over or something like that. The characters were all great, can't wait for that Valentines Day special which should be the next one to air soon...Any ways great episode I give it an A++
