I don't know about the animation, but Billy's character design looked a lot worse.
Does anyone else here think that the animation for the Billy & Mandy pilot, "Meet the Reaper", was better than the rest of the series? Not only was the comic timing better than most Billy & Mandy episodes I've seen (I cracked up when Mandy calmly walked under the limbo stick because she was short enough, among other moments), but there seemed to be more variety in the character's expressions and mannerisms. Decent storyboards, too. In general, it was more interesting to watch from a visual standpoint than any episode after that. Anyone else think so?
For those that haven't seen it, think Games Ren & Stimpy meets SpongeBob to get an idea of how the characters looked and how they moved.

Matthew 21:19
Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.
GOD HATES FIGS
The whole... Dang it...
Everything looked out of place. There, I said it.
Although I did like the pilot, I beleive that series has evolved into what Max Adams origanaly invisioned it to be:A dark, witty, strange show.
I agree comletely, toon and obi.
Whenever you type my screen name, you will address me fully as Toonmaster. Or Big Guy.

Just like that, I've killed the thread.
Wise words from Dennis:
Diet Pepsi won't make you skinny.
Country singers support alcoholism.
Women's magazines destroy families.
But I think the animation got better as time went on. I thought the original animation looked down right shoody, and the character designs looked off. The only redeeming episode was the plot.
I go forward because I can not go back.
Of course, I also liked the look of the pilot for Dexter's Lab, too. Go figure.

I liked the pilot, but the animation was pretty average. I like the new animation and designs. The one cool thing about the pilot is Gennedy Tartakofsky supervised it.
Billy and Mandy did nothing but improve.
Dexter's lab, however, looked TERRIBLE after the first season - I honestly found nothing artistic in the cheap animation or sparse backgrounds.

I despise the old Billy & Mandy stuff, especially the pilot. The poses and timing in the new episodes are 2000 times better than that garbage. It is almost as drastic an improvement as Ed Edd n Eddy.
