Cartoon theme block(s) you would like to see on Cartoon Network?

    Like This Thread!
So Cartoon Network has made Cartoon Fridays, Adult Swim, Toonami, et al; but what other fantasy cartoon blocks would you like to create?

Personally, I wouln't mind seeing a block of shows based off the morning funnies:
    Dennis the Menis
    Garfield
    Peanuts
    Mother Goose & Grimm
    Dilbert
    Baby Blues

    What are your ideas?

Oh....I'd like to just have a McCracken-Tarotskvy block. But I think they did that...or it's really not needed.

....a WB Silver age one woulda been good, but they sold off the shows.

They COULD, however, do a Sonic the Hedgehog block with the SatAM and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog block...NO Sonic Underground!

...an old 80s block consisting of Ninja Turtles and Transformers would be nice!

Those are great! I guess a Silver Age one with the stuff they have left:
    Taz-Mania
    Histaria
    Batman and Superman
    Earthworm Jim
    Freakezoid
Tiny Toons (Did Nick pick that up?)

BTW, I like your avatar, BourgeoisBuffoon. Have you seen the mutant snow goons Calvin and Hobbes?

Hobbes: How exactly did they kill Frosty?
Calvin: I think they stabbed him with an icicle, now I wish I watched that stupid show.

Yup....I am the biggest Calvin and Hobbes fan on the 'net, and I know EVERY strip!
    "Snow Goons are Bad News!"

Your avatar is very good as well; that's a fave strip of mine.

BTW, Nick has picked up Tiny Toons...once more. And we all fear of how it may be treated...but that's a discussion on another board.

Its probably because cartoon network aired them so sporadically.

BTW - this is probably so off topic for this board - but who got the rights to the Garfield and Heathcliff cartoons?

That was Fox Family in the case of Garfield (though in my neck of the woods, it also airs in syndication). I'm not sure about Heathcliff. It'd be pretty interesting to see the show again, especially since the strip's creator, George (or Geo.) Gately recently passed into the great beyond.

I agree with basically everything that's been said. It's a little suffocating to see the CC every day. It's kinda like what happening over at Nick and their K-C output. Here's what CN should do:

    - Get back Animaniacs! Now! (if there are any CN execs reading this, do it! No, don't wait! You can read the rest of the post later! Get them back! Run, man, run! For the good of the country!)

    - Get the rights to "Tiny Toons".

    - Put "Freakazoid!" on at a better time slot.

Oh, and Duncan, I love your avatar. "Zits" is a terrific strip.
I feel that a big problem with today's society is that we don't listen to our fellow man -- especially when I'm talking.

Again, a full plate to which to respond. Y'know, when they get TTA, Nick just might set up a block. All they'd need would be The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries to recreate the Big Craptoony Show. Of course, that'd mean more of the hack jobs we've come to know & loathe; but seeing what Nick's done with certain openings, I have a feeling they wouldn't have a problem with that. I would like to see a block of Transformers & GI Joe; maybe mix in a little Star Blazers or Robotech, some classic Voltron, perhaps? As to the other thing, CN is currently showing Garfield I think, & last I heard of Heathcliff it was on Nick, but that was years ago.
If you don't like your options, make another option.

Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries is one I forgot for the Silver Age, and closer than Earthworm Jim or Taz-Mania.

A videogame theme one could be made, but all those kinds of shows usually stink, but I wouldn't mind seeing the new Parappa the Rappa and Kirby anime they have in Japan.

Thanks for the compliments on my Zits avatar!

Get back "Animaniacs," I refuse to watch the crapipated Nick version! Also get back "Tiny Toons," and put "Freakazoid" with those two in a block with the other silver age shows!

Also, bring back "Top Cat!" Put in a block with The Flintstones and the "Jetsons." "Top Cat" was such a great show, I think I've seen every episode. Also include either "Wait 'till Your Father Gets Home" or Yogi Bear in this block.

Buy the rights to the Lantz Cartunes! We need the REAL Woody Woodpecker, not that new one! I want to see classics with Woody, Chilly Willy, and Andy! Also, get the rights to "Totally Tooned In," I want to see the rest of the Fox and Crow cartoons... And the Famous cartoons too! (though, they would probably censor Buzzy )

Get the rights to the Betty Boop cartoons. I hear AMC currently has the rights, but they don't take advantage of them. I (as well as everyone at the TTTP pretty much) want to see some GOOD prints of Betty on LNB&W.

Oh, and get the Alvin Show!

I'd like to see some prime time animation from the networks comprise some kind of block on the network. You know, Oblongs, Mission Hill, Undergrads, Clerks, and more, and of course I'd like to see CN commision several of these shows for new episodes!

Other than that, I wouldn't mind seeing some SatAm blocks, kinda like what they do on Boomerang, but instead of using just Hanna Barbara cartoons, they could re-create Saturday mornings of the past for us with all kinds of different cartoons. That is something I've hoped they would do for quite some time.

I know this wouldn't be in a "block" per se, but I would like to see classic toy commercials on CN for cartoons of the past, kinda like the retro commercials TV Land shows. That would fit in perfectly in a SatAM block!

I can see Cartoon Network resurrecting their detective shows franchise, Mystery, Inc., with a little diversity in the mix.

    Mystery, Inc.:

    Scooby-Doo Where Are You?
    Clue Club
The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan
    The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries
and (please don't laugh at me for suggesting this) Batman: The Animated Series (he is, afterall, the Dark Knight Detective)

They should also create a block full of, um, how should I describe them? Silly, not-your-average, superheroes. A weekly two-hour block like this:

    Freakazoid
    Plastic Man
The Mask (wouldn't be THAT hard to get, especially since New Line is an ATW company)
The Tick (this might be a problem to snag)

(*edit* had the silly thing in reverse!)

A videogame block with both retro and modern video game shows would rule too! Calling the whole lineup the Supercade (based on the classic anthology series, Saturday Supercade), you can have these shows:

    Pac Man
    Pole Position
    Dragon's Lair
Supercade Shorts (including Donkey Kong, Q-Bert, Space Ace, Frogger, and Kangaroo)
    Super Mario Bros.
    Captain N
Sonic The Hedgehog SatAM (anything else is unacceptable)
and I guess Pokemon might fit in, provided it doesn't have ALL the attention

I'd also like a retro Toonami block on weekends, with a lot of old-school toonage that'll satisfy your action pallette.

    Thundercats
    Silverhawks
    Transformers
    M.A.S.K.
    C.O.P.S.
    Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
    Robotech
    Voltron: Defender of the Universe

Yeah, that'll just about do it!

Man, woman, it doesn't matter! They should hop to it!

Well, Dilbert really doesn't fit under Morning funnies...its a little too risky for morning TV. One episode featured mini people getting high off markers.

And, Since Sonic SatAM is coming out on DVD soon, It doesn't matter if its on TV!

    These are interesting ideas.

I'd like to see a videogame themed block with the following.

    Pac Man
    Pole Position
    Dragon's Lair
Supercade Shorts (including Donkey Kong, Q-Bert, Space Ace, Frogger, Donkey Kong Jr., Pittfall, and Kangaroo)
    Super Mario Bros.
    Captain N
    The Ledgend of Zelda

How about a He-Man & She-Ra Block?, or other Filmation shows like Fat Albert, Blackstar, Mighty Mouse, Bravestarr

    Also a retro Toonami block

    Thundercats
    Silverhawks
    Transformers
    M.A.S.K.
    Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
    Robotech
    Voltron: Defender of the Universe
    Battle Of The Planets

How about a block of Batman, Superman, and Batman Beyond

And don't forget some Silver age WB toons

    Tiny Toons
    Animaniacs
    Taz-Mania
Pinke & The Brain (Elmyra is unacceptable!!)
    Freakazoid

And how about a John K. block
    The New Mighty Mouse
Ren & Stimpy (THE EARLY UNCUT EPISODES!!)
    The Ripping Friends

I also agree with the guy who wants Top Cat along withe The Flintstones, and The Jetsons. Same for Yogi Bear.

Also, i would love to see Heathcliff again!! Lat time i saw Heathcliff was on Fox Family.

I'd like to see Dungeons and Dragons worked into some kind of fantasy block. The cartoon from the 80's, that is. I loved that series and haven't seen it in years. I had read once that repeats of it aired on CN a while back, but it was before I had cable, unfortunately.
