    All new Power Puff Girls!

    Like This Thread!
The long-awaited previously only available on DVD eps "Power Lunch" and "Helter Shelter" finally aired last night on CCF. After Bubbles gets lectured on bringing home strays--she has a collection to rival Elmyra's--she inexplicably brings home a baby whale and tries to keep it a secret. The professor tells her it's not right to keep animals captive...and she decides to spring all the animals in the Townsville Zoo. Shades of TTA's "Whale's Tales" in terms of sentimentality...notable scene was when the Girls schemed to stash the whale in the basement, and Buttercup solved the problem of water by punching Blossom in the gut, causing her to exhale ice, then melted it with heat vision. Though technically aren't whales salt-water creatures?
In "Power Lunch" the Gangrene Gang parodies The Fantastic Four and the X-Men after the Girls' laser eyes combine with a massive amount of sugar in their stomachs after they gorge at a convenience store, giving them super powers...but the effect is temporary; after the irradiated sugar passes through their digestive tracts they return to...well, whatever passes for normal with those slobs. We still don't see Buttercup's special secret power, but we do learn she's a mean bowler!

Well, if they're on DVD, that's good enough for me! But why were they DVD only in the first place? Is it because of how the Gangrene Gang lose thier power...?

Annnnnnd One of my usual brilliant questions: If Buttercup melts Blossom's ice breath with heat vision, doesn't that make heat vision her special power? Or do all the girls have that albility?

Hm...stray collection that only Elmyra could match. Why, Bubbles and Elmyra should start a club or something.

I think they all have heat vision.

Nope. They were just trying to give extra incentive to buy the DVDs. I've seen Power Lunch at Suncoast when they were running it on the monitors.

Both of these were pretty good, but I liked Helter Shelter more. There were a lot of funny scenes in that one. My favorite was when Bubbles threw one glass of water on the whale. It was also great seeing them try to hide the whale, very remniscent of Tom Turk and Daffy. "No, no, over here. No, even more obviouser."

And once Bubbles finds out exactly how Elmyra loves aminals, what then?

SAID BY NFTNAT: And once Bubbles finds out exactly how Elmyra loves aminals, what then?
Hm...I'm gonna assume Bubbles gets horrified after the club holds a meeting at her house, and she sets out to secretly free all the animals. But Elmyra's bothered to put in security mesures ever since Buster escaped...
    ...
(We see Bubbles sneaking in a black sweatsuit and hat to Elmyra's house. She opens the front door and sneaks her way to Elmyra's pets.)
BUBBLES: (to sad-looking chipmunk) Don't worry, little guy, you'll be safe!
(she then opens up the door...but an alarm sounds off, and the place goes red!)
    BUBBLES: Uh oh!
    (Elmyra rushes in...well, alarmed)
ELMYRA: Oh no! My petty-wettys are trying to escape! (sees Bubbles) Bubbles?! What are you doing here? Why are you holding Dale's door open?
    BUBBLES: Uh...heh heh...
    ...

They're on the VHS tapes, too. "Power Lunch" is okay, but "Helter Shelter" is classic.

There has to be enough acids and bases in the lab to have produced a few salts.

But even if it wasn't, it's still better than a cup of water.

Buttercup solved the problem of water by punching Blossom in the gut, causing her to exhale ice, then melted it with heat vision.
"(cough) You could have just asked!"

But this is Buttercup ... whoop first, ask questions never.

-- Kane ... well, that's usually her case at least. She made a major exception in Los Dos Mojos.

I didn't bother to watch it on CN cause because my girlfriend has all the powerpuff girl DVDs. But I honestly really enjoyed Power Lunch. Though I admit Helter Skelter was funnier.
