    What is the EMO board?

    Like This Thread!
I saw a reference to this in "Bonus Stage" episode 7. What is this, and why is it so infamous among board posters, web surfers, and the such?

    "Emo foreveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer......."

I don't have a good feeling about that...

afaik EMO is the general term given to angsty teeny linkin park listeners and the like. I think EMO is short for Emotion, as in way too much of? Basically goth for the new millenium...

So an EMO board would basically be the most worthless, most annoying boards on the web.

    correct me if i'm wrong...

I'd say you are correct, that and possibly a sorta inside joke. Its obviously a net term and depending on the forum or chat for that matter it may get batted around for fun. Knowing, Matt I'd say the answer is a mix. But of course to know for certain you'd have to ask the man directly if he was making a direct reference.

He don't think much of me

Bonus Stage is a webtoon by Toonzone gadfly and burgeoning animator Matt Wilson and I'd say it's damned funny and especially impressive for being pretty well a one-man show.

The episode in question is episode 7, "Cube".

I recommend it highly and I think you'll enjoy watching it. And no, Matt isn't paying me to say that, and he never will.

Emo? As in Emo Phillips? He's funny. Seriously, I'm about as non-Goth as you can get.

The moment I read "emo" a while back, my first thought was of him.

"Emo" comes from the word "emotional", and it's basically people who dress a certain way and who listen to a kind of music that no one has ever heard of, however, if you're emotional and don't dress how they do or listen to what they listen to, then you're not "emo". Basically speaking, it's just a term for unpopular teens to name themselves because they respect what others listen to and how others dress LIKE THE REST OF US WHO DON'T NEED TO BE LABLED ON HOW WE DRESS OR WHAT WE LISTEN TO. Hard to believe that those "emo" kids are gonna become adults. I'm scared now.

Goth.. I wonder if there are any actual gothic people. I wonder if they are religious. That's gonna surprise people now, I bet. I LOVE the Middle Ages. Sweeeeeeeet!!

I'm sorry but I just HAVE to!!

Goth (n): any of the Germanic people that conquered most of the Roman Empire of the 3rd, 4th and 5th centuries AD.

Gothic (adj): of the Goths or their language or a Gothic cathedral (a huge, large dark church)

Now tell me, does anyone see where the white make-up comes from? The drab black clothing comes from?

I'd more classify it in the category of "ear rape". or more accurately, "holy god, what talent exec idiot greelighted THIS bunch?"

I agree thier music sucks. But if that angished guy quit rapping and screaming, it would sound like a Diet- Rage against the machine. I think.

I got a guitar magazine a while back that had listings of essential guitar albums in different fields, and one of them was "screamo." I guess that's a more hard-egded version of emo. At any rate, I'd never heard of any of the bands listed. I've heard some emo and I find much of it is just complaining about lost loves and such, which is a common theme in music, but it's done in a very whiny manner. I'm sure some of it is good, but I don't really care to find out.

Actually, I would HIGHLY suggest Further Seems Forever (How to Start a Fire) they're one of the greater bands I've heard and just happen to be emo.

Also, Anberlin, Matchbox 20, Taking Back Sunday, Return...

It's a term used for teens who WANT to be part of something. They just can't be themselves, so as long as there are "cliques" and they're not a part of them, they make their "emo" clique. Sad, really. I was never a part of a clique. I was me and was glad to be me.
