    Paying our respects.

    Like This Thread!
As a mark of respect, the UK is having a three minute silence at 11.00AM (Greenwich Meantime). Everybody in our office will be participating.

To reflect this, I may not post again for the rest of the day, and, as always, I am returning home this weekend, so I shall be 'absent' from the boards for a few days now, but I want all my American friends here to know that the thoughts of my wife and I, and the whole fo the UK, are with you in these tragic times.

    All the best,

    Mathew

As if I didn't love this guy enough. Being an American and a native NYer, I have to deal with both this gigantic pain of loss, and be as strong enough as I am normally in order to help answer back and protect people and make steps to defeat terrorism. The load is almost unbereable, but it's people, AND countries, like this that remind me how strong I can be.

What? My point? Oh yeah! I nearly forgot. I just want to thank people like Frozen who extends his sympathy, strength, and prayer to those who need it. And what's even more auxilerating is a large number of overseas countries are doing the same thing. Germany, Russia, England, Isreal, and a number I'm sure I forgot to mention, regretably.

Ya know......it's soothing (and somewhat ironic) to feel that the evil from a few days ago could wake such a large and powerfull force of good that's in the world. It makes me push foward even harder cuz I have the strength to.

    Thanks Frozen, and to everyone.

The awful particularity of these events is made more bearable as our friends come together in solidarity, to share and shoulder the pain and the responsibility.

    Thanks to all.

Yeah....my school (in Maryland) and all other Maryland schools had the students and falculty bow thier heads for five minutes at 12:00 noon. I think it was a kind thing to do...

....as I do of Frozen's and the U.K.'s act and all other non-Americans who did this deed. I, like many others, am touched by the friendship many other nations have shown toward the U.S., thank you.

My whole school had an assembelly about the Disastor. My condolenses to those who lost loved ones or who my have been affected by some other way.
This is very similar to the suggestion put forward by the Quirmian philosopher Ventre, who said, "Possibly the gods exist, and possibly they do not. So why not believe in them in any case? If it's all true you'll go to a lovely place when you die, and if it isn't then you've lost nothing, right?" When he died he woke up in a circle of gods holding nasty-looking sticks and one of them said, "We're going to show you what we think of Mr Clever Dick in these parts..."

All of the patriotism that I saw all over today made me feel a little bit better about the whole situation. Almost our entire school wore red, white, and blue today. The hallways were a sea of patriotic colors. I'm seeing American flags everywhere, on cars, outside of houses, and decorating the malls and shopping centers. Tonight when I was out shopping, I saw people holding candles outside the shopping center and all the cars that dorve past were honking in support. It's really great how Americans and the whole world are coming together. Thanks to all the people who are showing their support.

My school handled the event poorly...We've had roughly 5 moments of silence so far this week despite the fact that one Vice Principal tried going to the head Principal and having him force teachers not to talk about the events.

And then today we had a bomb scare, some people have no respect or decency anymore...

    My school did this too......

We had a moment of silence, and then our teacher's started to disscuss the events for a while. Then the govenment class went out every period of today and waved the flag around our school. We were also asked the day before to wear red, white, and blue. Our school had the american flags all over the place.

People had flags on there cars and everything, it was great to see so many people who cared about this country. Now after reading what Frozen said, I've never been more happy to have come to this board. I had never been to a board where people actually cared about what happen in this world and what happens to the others in the world.........sorry, I know I'm kinda talking on and on, but I just had to say that.

Re: My school did this too......

My school had a moment of silence right after we said the Pledge of Alligiance on Friday. And we never say the Pledge.

But Friday was the night of our big football game against our rival school. So it was a spirit day instead of a patriotic day. Almost the whole country, including professional football, has stopped for a while, but Wayne still had to play Centerville.

And thanks Frozen. Always caring about everyone. We really appreciate it.
