    I hate this...

    Like This Thread!
I really want to talk about something else, but understandably, news and events have pretty much come to a halt, so new things are pretty much out of the question. I'm angry at nothingness. Ever feel that? When you just sit there, and you're angry, but not at anything in particular, just the nothingness? I don't feel angry about yesterday; just sad. Sad about the possibilities of human nature. Or being reminded of them.

I guess it's more like a frustration rather than anger. It's like I'm in limbo today.

We've had a day to let this sink in. To share our grief and express our sorrow and our anger. Is there any point to continuing this?

As a matter of substance, there is probably nothing to do but share news (which we can get off of the internet if we have to) and argue about what comes next--probably not a constructive topic and one that probably contravenes the TZ injunction against controversial topics.

LLJ didn't suggest this in so many words, but it is worth putting out for discussion:

Should we declare a moratorium on the subject of yesterday's horror, and use this board's other threads and topics as much needed distraction?

With all the grief out there I don't think this is a decision that the mods, even collectively, should wundertake alone. This is a community, and if the community wishes to put this behind it, it is up to that community.

    Please say what you think.

Although I personally disagreed with this argument when it was made for violence/sex in entertainment (I think it was Happyheathen's?),
If you don't want to participate, you don't have to.

Yeah, there are no new news. But I'm still interested in hearing what people have to say.

Well, I'm still consistent with the argument. I can either participate or go someplace else. I choose to stay with these if that's all there is.

This is a sad day for all of humanity and for now I think we should allow people to post here about it.

We're seeing the pages of history being turned right in front of us. I understand how we would like to talk about other things, but as for me personally I find it hard to think about much else right now. So I say we should keep talking about this, so much is going on right now. All our rants about

"Animation is not just for kids."

    or.

    "We want more primetime animation"

justified as they might be, seem pretty small and insignifigant to everything going on right now.

Well, those are topics that will undoubtedly resume at a later time. I'm sure some of us have more things to say about them later on.

For now, though, I'm going to continue participating in recent threads and I'll hop at the chance to participate in light, fluffy, jovial threads.

I think we should let the discussions continue for as long as people feel the need to express an opinion or fact about it. It's catharsis for some. At the same time, if someone has a more lighter-hearted topic they want to discuss, but dont know if it's appropriate, I say... GO RIGHT AHEAD!

With all that's happened, I'm sure some people wouldn't mind trying to lighten the loads on their minds and hearts. While some others might want to keep discussing to try to make themselves feel better. Let's talk folks....

    Good enough for me

The consensus, it appears, is to keep things open.

My thanks to everyone who made known their views known. You're a wonderful group, and I know that we will hang together through this.

Talking about it is really all most of us can do to recover from this horrific event.

Well, that and give blood... I strongly urge all of you who can to make a donation, as it's sorely needed.

I'm glad you're keeping the threads open. If we can't talk about this among friends, who can we talk about this to?

Yeah, these boards came in handy especially when the whole thing was just beginning...somehow I had the feeling other people were going to be there. And they were

I'm glad that both discussions of the tragic events on Tuesday and discussions about other things will continue. That way everyone who subscribes to these boards can cope however they need to - staying busy with other subjects, telling how they feel, encouraging others, etc. Those who are ready to move on, can talk about whatever they want as well. It satisfies, well, just about everyone I hope

I know i'm getting kind of tired of talking about all this too. I've already said a lot of what i wanted to say. Plus, i'm a little overwhelmed by all this. But we do need it. Eventually it'll pass.

I dont mind talking about this, I find it helpful. But I have to admit that I dont think I've can take much more of the news coverage. And I'm not saying that the news coverage is doing a bad job, it's just that I've been so inundated by all the images and commentary and the what ifs I'm not sure how much more I can take. It's an emotional overload. I can't imagine what it's like for people who lost someone in this. Horrible beyond words. I get choked up sometimes hearing or reading a story, I'm so thankful that everyone I know is ok. I think everyone could use some time, but it's not even close to being over.

    Why not do both?

I'm glad everyone made the choice they did. Mine? Just say what you feel. If you feel like talking about it, because something came to mind, do it. If you feel like talking about Blade 2 or Samurai Jack, do that. And with that, things haven't really changed much, when you think about it. We're all one big community, and that's what we do. Talk.

    Normalization

It's awfully good today to see discussion of other topics begin to resume. One of my fears has been that, in the shadow of this week's events, people might not feel right in posting on other subjects, and that even after the shock had faded might be loathe to resume normal conversations.

    Let's keep it up.
