I tried like crazy last night to figure this out and I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible. I found a picture small enough to go in a 75x75 picture and have the BMP made in MS Paint. Now I need to convert to JPG to use it here. MS Paint has never heard of JPG, and IE only knows how to save existing JPGs. Could I have some help, please? Thanks.

If you still can't get it to work, send it to me and I'll see if I can convert it for you.
In Photo Shop, Panint Shop Pro or Corel Paint. File-Save as select .jpg and then set the compression (10 is a loss less jpg)
I just rename the file extension when I do what you're talking about.

No. Basically the software rewrites the file to a jpg. Go to http://www.jasc.com/download_4.asp?prod=001
download the demo of paint shop pro. It will last for 30 days on your hd. Open the bmp (file-open-then find the bmp). Now file-save as
There is a drop down menu that reads ".bmp". Scroll down the menu until you see ".jpg". Select it. If it asks for a compression setting use "10". It will now save it as a jpeg.
Yeah, that's what I do.

I'd like to put a bunch of ditto marks under Maxie's post because that's exactly what I was gonna say. Photoshop does it well, if all else fails, I'd like to offer my services. But since Maxie did so first I'd understand.![]()
I rememer a lot of systems with Windows 95 were able to just change the file extention after opening a save as window from a program and click the file type "all files" then change the sucker to whatever you want.
But I haven't seen that in a while. It's how I used to make my Windows Icons for the Desktop.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to keep track of them in case I ever do this again. Special thanks to Maxie for compressing Wakko here. Faboo!

Glad to see it worked. I was actually kinda worried. It wasn't as straightforward a task as I had hoped, but I lucked into the right method in the end.Originally posted by don Jaime
