A SERIOUS congrats to you hon! I hope you get it!!!![]()
All right, so I've been doing a play for a while now at college, because I missed the theater. Right now I'm playing a 40 year old editor in the play OUR TOWN. It's not a huge part, but like most of them, it's quite important. And I guess it's a big deal that I got it because I "beat out" several actual 40 year old semi-pros from the community. And I have to act older then the people of the same age who are playing my kids.
Our next play is Steven Sondheim's musical drama COMPANY, and I'm looking forward to it. Last night I was talking to the other people in our little circle of actors (about 30), and of the guys who can actually sing, none of them can hit the notes for the lead. So I went home, popped in the soundtrack...and guess what? I can. Which means nothing, because I haven't done a musical since second grade, and I have no formal choir training. Still, it's conceivable that if no one else comes from the community who can pull it off, I could land the lead.
GO for it... The voice training isnt a big deal. Anyone with a music background can help you with it.

Good luck. I'd recommend you try the stuff a couple of times minus tape. Soundtracks can mislead as your voice will naturally gravitate to the key through the track and not of it's own accord. If you are a little rusty, I'd suggest just making sure you're entirely confident singing this on your own without any soundtrack.
Go get it! If you haven't already...![]()

Having only been involved in musicals as far as the pit orchestra, I really can't help you with chorus/acting. However, I wish you good luck.

My sister has been helping me out on piano.

I'm even better without it.
That's the attitude to have - self belief will get you the part!Originally posted by The Guard

Practicing in front of your family or other audience couldn't hurt either.
