Well it is true that many of the ideals applied to modern dog breeding originate with the ideals of racially based eugenics and the dogs are often bred (and inbred) so they can meet some arbitrary standard often to the detriment to there own health; but no one wants a breed of Uber-hound to subjugate or slaughter all the other breeds of dogs.

um i believe breeding was started for breed specific jobs and not to have the prettiest dog out there.... even now, judges base their decision on the healthiest best bred dog (skeletal features, breed standard features, no genetic malformations, breed personalities), features that help their job and extend lifespan, not the one with the pretties fur or the bluest eyes. but yeah PETA you suck

It gets people talking about PETA and converts a few people in the process. Same here. When I think of "master race," the first thing that pops into my mind is a bunch of people wearing their finest white linens for their guest appearance on Jerry Springer. No, the first thing that pops into my mind is Nazi Germany. Honestly, they would have done the Nazi getups if it wasn't for two things: 1) PETA has a good image in Germany (where Nazi imagery is apparently restricted to the occasional movie/tv show about WWII), and 2) PETA needed a three-letter organization to attack AKC and the only one they could think of is the klan.

I'm with the AKC on this. SilentBat18 had the best convincing post about it. However, I do wonder if next year's dog show will have a "mixed breed" competition (if they even do have one) as a result of PETA's stupidity/complaining.

As for you, PETA. Stay classy.
