The Pirate Bay's ship has sailed.

    Like This Thread!
The Pirate Bay, one of the Internet's largest file-sharing sites, has been sold to Global Gaming Factory X, and the site will be going legal as an aftermath of its founders being arrested in a recent trial case.

Considering what happened to Napster and Mininova, I guess it was bound to happen.

What are your thoughts on this?

Note: Considering TZ's stance on political discussion and the legality of file-sharing itself, be careful of what you say in this thread.

It doesn't really matter to me since I've quit the occasional illegal downloading years ago and started paying for stuff.

If more companies would make their content available on ad-supported sites like Hulu (which I love) and Pandora there would be much less demand for sites like this, except among the straight up incorrigible thieves who just like stealing software and music and who can convince themselves it's okay with their various flimsy rationales.
    And stay out of Riverdale!

Well its still going to be up, just in a different form.

I understand Shawn stance, since its better to buy stuff. Of course its better to buy stuff if you have MONEY to spend on it, other wise, that where torrenting come into play.

I look at it this way, if you support the artist/anime/whatever, no matter what, you still need to support them regardless, support doesnt come in this fashion. To me, torrenting is like Blockbuster for everything, if you like it enough, spend extra to get it...
Part of a podcast that likes old school anime, but will find something to dislike about it. And we talk about other stuff.

I know, it really sucks. If media companies like Warner Bros. and others would sell their shows on DVD...and not just say the few first episodes, like the ENTIRE series, they wouldn't be having problems with people illegally downloading episodes and whatnot. I mean, who cares if the DVD sales don't go as planned? At least it'll solve the majority of piracy...I'm just sayin'. Companies are so confusing, I try not to think about it from keeping my head from exploding.
