Here it is, finally. The redesign for "AnyGen."

The AnyGen board is now officially "Cafe Toon Zone," the place to pull up a stool and get to know your fellow Toon Zoners over a cup of hot java and a slice of pie. After a lot of hair-pulling, finger-pointing and picture-straightening, we've got a radical new look that we think works. There may be a little bit of tweaking here and there, but this is basically it.

Credit where credit is due:

Singin' Stray Cat designed, colored, tweaked and shaded the funky, retro-looking background. (I keep expecting to see Yogi Bear or Mr. Magoo go wandering past when I look at it.) SSC also finally shoved aside some guy who doesn't know color-coordination (me ) to take charge of the color scheme.

That great banner is courtesy of The Flash -- a great splash of style to accent the austere elegance of SSC's layouts.

Okay, I'll stop blathering like a bad art catalogue now. Give them a big round of applause.

Well people we are now officially in Cafe Toon Zone! Blue in my favorite color I think the place looks awesome!

I love the new look! I really like how we've managed to give these two boards, that spun out of AniGen, two distinct looks. We have the bright blue of the Anitainment Board, and the dark hues of the Cafe. I really, really it.

Yeah.

We were testing it out on a board that we weren't posting to, and so didn't realize that redirect screen needed fixing until-- Well, until I put up this thread!

I liked the old name better. AnyGen, anygeneration, anygender coming together. It had meaning. I should be drinking coffee.

By the way, Slipknot, you shouldn't put your member statement as "Senior Member" 'cause.... You're not a senior member...

People are upgraded to "Senior Member" after 500 posts. I never took into account that someone would have 500 posts in a week..

Well, if you don't like it, then don't post here. Simple as that. The reason why is says 'Senior Member" is because he has posted an obscene amount of posts in a short period of time - less than two weeks. When the count gets over 500, the name title goes from "Member" to "Senior Momeber". Since he is not a Senior Member, I will change it back to just "Member".

Wow, talk about a change. I really like how the boards I now visit aren't all the same. Great job guys.

By the way, do you plan on changing the light blue behind the button bar on the top (control panel, register, etc...)?

Why? I like it!

I like the new name better than "AnyGen". That was too close to the original, and yes, I know it was only temporary, which is why I didn't comment. If two (or more) people are in a cafe together, they might talk about general topics, right? The name choice is good.

I don't have much to say about the background, other than it looks cool.

We had a thread for a week or so where people suggesed names. But most had "general" or "animation" -type formations in them, and we wanted to get away from that. Animation is now the function of "AniTainment," and most of the "general" formations had connotations that were suggested would have made the place feel more like a free-for-all.

Someone had suggested a "coffee" theme in one of the posts, and we liked that so we built on that. Modesty forbids me revealing who actually proposed the "Cafe Toon Zone" construction.

Wow...everything looks really great! I love the new colors and everything...they really make this board stand out! Thanks for putting so much hard work into the new boards, I know it must have been a long process to get everything worked out...but I love the way it all turned out.

That was me . I suggested Coffee Talk . I'm glad you took my idea and improved it. I love this new board.

In that old brainstorm thread, I said I liked the name GenCom, but this is actually better because it's not as dehumanized. Toon Zone Cafe suggests a laid back atmosphere, but not so laid back that you don't still put on a tie. Very nice. But don't expect me to put on pants too.

Wait...you mean we're supposed to wear pants?

I like how this board - the look of it mostly, gives a laid back feel to the place. Definatly a board where you can relax and just hang out. Just remember this is still an all ages board. I'm glad to see so many people like the ne wlook. SSC and Flash worked their butts off to get it right - and I think they nailed it.
