Sick days rule, and the best sick days are the ones where you fool your parents in to believing you are sick. I tried once to make my mom think I was really sick and she put a thermometer in my mouth and then went out side to walk the dog or something. I took a lighter and put it under the thermometer...and MELTED THE GLASS! Needless to say, my trickery did not work that day!
Stay sick for as long as you can. There are no sick days in college at all and in work you get a few, but not many.

I would rather go to school than be sick. Even if you have fun sitting around all day, there's extra work waiting for you when you come back.
I seem to recall way back in elementary, I had a project due and nothing to hand in, so I pulled the ol' sick bit and my mom didn't want me to have another absence so she said she'd pull me out early. She came to get me about 5 minutes after my teacher called my name at random to present. There's a lesson in that story, and I still don't know what it is.

Actually, college is a lot easier, since you're not required to get up as early and don't have as many hours of classes each week (usually). Also, there's the option of not going if you don't feel like it since there's no one there to force you to go. But incoming college folks, it's my experience that it's a bad idea!Originally posted by RogueMartian

Personally, I'd rather go to class than be sick. In class, the pain ends in an hour or 2. If you're sick, that stays with you.
Because I do well in school, when I was feeling just a tad "ill", I could stay home. But, in the later part of high school, I've really tried to not miss school unless I was really sick, or it was a class that I could afford to miss. Sick days are quite fun, but, well, call me sick, but I really enjoy going to school the majority of the time. I would rather be in school then be home because I get more out of going then not going to school. And do you know how hard it is to have a Dad that asks if you want to play hookey? I mean, it's way awesome, but most of the time I needed to go to school for an exam or because I just really wanted to go.

If I were you, I would try to stay sick as long as you can. It's pretty sweet while it lasts. I'd only use it if I have a project to finish or something though.

The problem with sick days is sooner or later you have to go back, and there will be the extra work waiting for you. Plus, if you're really sick, it's hard to enjoy your free time. Ideally for me is when I know I'm not going to miss anything important from school, and when I'm not really sick. I usually pull sick days when I need to study for a test, or do a project. Otherwise, I'd spend the whole day on the computer and get a headache anywayOriginally posted by ghost15

Sick days for me ROCK. Computer all day with no repurcussions.
But you know what? I'm so friggin' healthy I have to have had fake all my sick days in the last couple of years. No kidding. It's hard to get a sick day also when your Mom's a nurse...
...still, enjoy a sick day. If you're the lazy type like nearly all of us are, extend it for as long as you can. With the exception of the fact you're, well, SICK, it's just a day off! Just remember as Nightflower said: there's extra work waiting for you. That alone can usually decide how much time you can have off.
I'd generally go to class in the end, though-if you're really sick, there's only so much you can really do without feeling woozy.

....I wish I had a decent one.
I am in high school and I hate to miss a couple of days cause I am so far behind when I get back and high school is fun you can do almost anything you want to. I remember In middle school I skipped like five months straight and they withdrew me from school so the only way for me to go back was for my dad to re enroll me to school, so now if I want to misss school I don't have to fake a reason I just tell him straight up I don't want to go to school.
I am back after being gone for so long
I would rather STAY HOME.
I was sick this last week, and I missed two days of class, but it sucked because I was really actually sick and then when I went back I was totally behind, so I think I'll just drop the class. Anyways, sick days rule, so long as your not too sick to enjoy them, but it's better to just go to school and sleep there.

Don't use or take a sick day unless you're really sick. They are extremely boring. And, as everyone said, you have make-up work to do, and you probably won't understand it 'cause you weren't in school that day!![]()
And besides, most people look at this type of topic unrealistically. They are all under the apparent misconception tha--oh, wait. Is my post over? Ah, okay.

When I was in school, I had no problems with taking sick days. But now I am a working man, I would rather show up to work sick than stay home. If you're gonna be sick, you might as well be sick at work! Also, at my job, you get paid at the end of the year for whatever sick time you did not use, and as a full timer, I get about 50 hours of sick time a year. Oh, yeah, a pay check worth 50 hours of work at the end of the year??? That is NICE! I can tolerate showing up sick so I can get the extra pay in December!
I sorely miss sick days myself, but I find myself missing Christmas break a lot more. I was used to having 2-3 weeks of... now I'm lucky if I can even get Christmas off (I didn't last year).
