    My Car Died!

    Like This Thread!
Last night as I was driving home, my car decided to overheat and not tell me. The engine seazed up on me about a mile or so from my house. My family and I were able to push it back home (using a combination of human strenght, and the van pushing.)

Now I'm in a problem. I have no reliable way to get around, let alone to work (tho my bro is taking me now and my best friend is taking me back). The car was 1990 Mazda that I got used in 99 (it had already had been in an accident). Now, I've been saving up to buy a car for myself recently, but I've only got about a little under $2000 right now. I've ben told that that's a decent ammount for a downpayment and the dealers will work with me into a payment plan of around $200 a month.

Now I don't need nothing fancy, jsut something that works , has airconditioning and a working CD player (MP3 would be nice) Hell, I could even take driving a Manual shift again if the price difference is that bad.

Also, one of my coworkers personally knows a guy who sell Suzukis and might be able to get me a pretty good discount on them. Does anyone know if those are good?

Anyway, the point is: Does anyone recommend a well working vehicle for a decent price ( ~ $10-12 grand) I'm not real particular, and for someone with a great eye for detail, every damn car looks exactly the same to me

Ouch... sorry to hear that, Conekiller.

I've got a great car though, for about 11 grand and 200 dollars a month. Of course my parents are paying for it... *ahem* You could get a 2004/5 Chevy Aveo... it's small on the outside (in fact it takes up about half a parking space!), roomy on the inside. There's the coupe and 5 door option (I got a 5 door) and three different models. All equiped with a/c. Mines theh LS 5 door and the only thing it doesn't have is... a sunroof.

    All for 11 grand.

I take a pic of mine, but it's in the shop right now (got into a accident and ruined my rear passenger door).

*slaps forehead* It's not a 5 door... it just looks like it. This is what my car looks like, if it where blue. Mine's black. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...st=1863#vdptop

The trunk looks like it's another door. You actually have a lot more room to haul stuff if you flip down the passenger and back seats.

I don't think I can recommend anything, but I do feel your pain. So I do wish you luck with the situation. As for your budget, you seem okay.

I had a car that died once, and I'm sure my current car could die any time soon. I have a cousin who can get me the parts I need for a good price, but I'd rather just replace my car totally. It ended up being a lemon, yet I still wanted to fix it up to make it something more worthwhile, only to have to have something about it fixed almost every month. So now I'm saving up for a new car. I've already taken my tax refund and put it aside towards getting a new car. I might also be getting my own place soon, so I'll just wait until that happens before I really start to worry about buying a new car.

By the way, I think I have my mind set on a Toyota Corolla, and I'd buy it brand new. Also, have any of you ever considered getting anything from Hyundai?

Well, I've determined the cause, there was a huge rupture in one of the hoses, the water must've leaked out pretty quickly.

Anyway. my dad thinks it might be repairable, but I've given up on it completely and am already looking to move on. My grandmother recommends Hondas and Mazdas, or pretty much anything Japanese.

Since I'm so stupid when it comes to cars (seriously, they all look the same to me) I need some advice here.
