huh??? I got the SW OT (non SE) on DVD
Search the Site:
This is not a thread about Star Wars or the lack of the original trilogy on DVD, but about movies we see that are available on DVD that some how makes you wonder why Star Wars or [insert beloved movie title here] isn't yet available on DVD. Sure, the DVDs are from different studios, but still....you just have to ask WHY??
My strange DVD release of the week that makes me ask "WHY?":
Curse of the Queerwolf
huh??? I got the SW OT (non SE) on DVD
It's sad to say that the only option that many Star Wars fans have is to buy bootlegs. George Lucas has nobody to blame but himself - asking fans to wait untill 2005 while their old VHS tapes degrade into a blizzard is a bit too much. The VCD sets from Malaysia are another option ( and at least they're official ) but the quality on those is poor at best.huh??? I got the SW OT (non SE) on DVD
There are many movies which don't deserve to be on disc ( although almost everything has it's fans I suppose ) but one in particular I can think of is 'Bod'.
US viewers probably won't be familiar with this series as I doubt it's ever been shown in America. It was made for British television in the early 70s and is quite possibly the poorest quality animated show in history. It's looks like it was done at about 10 frames a minute.
Yet the complete 'Bod' is available on region 2.
Those VCD sets are pan and scan! the DVDs I got are widescreen! Oh wait, they're official!! Time to throw away these DVDs and get thatOriginally posted by finbarlafume

And the ORIGINAL SW will never come on DVD. Sad I gotta settle for those. The last 12 min of ESB have synching issues. Tho it's mostly action and most speech is Darth Vader, C3PO, R2D2, and Boba Fett, so it's not that bad.
Will somebody with smallpox or something go sneeze on George. Then maybe he'll pass away and we'll get original Star Wars on DVD via his more fiscally savy lawyers...well just a thoughtAnd the ORIGINAL SW will never come on DVD
In general the problem behind delayed releases are probably due to red tape (actors, studios, etc. wanting more money). Since DVD wasn't around when most movies were made they didn't have DVD distribution rights in the contracts. So now they gotta hammer stuff like that out before it can be released.

For crying out loud, can't the filmmaker's wishes be RESPECTED? I mean, it always seems like SW fans think they know better than George about a given thing involving Star Wars, when in reality, they DON'T. They're his movies, he can do whatever he wants and we can't change his mind. We can't change George's mind about the release date of the DVDs, nor the inclusion of the originals (and I have never seen concrete evidence that they WON'T be included...besides, it's too early to tell; it's still only December 2002)

So you actually LIKED the greedo shirts first scene over the original one???Originally posted by TServo2049

And you actually LIKED the censored words of C3PO and Luke in ESB?
HE said so. If he said so that's concrete enough(and I have never seen concrete evidence that they WON'T be included...besides, it's too early to tell; it's still only December 2002)
Yea I really think George is dum. Even with all the excuses I've heard about him not realeasing till he re-re does them w/ even more special features and added scenes it still perplexes me why he hasnt released that other huge trilogy of his. You know the little old movie bout some archaelogist saving the world from the Nazis by finding ancient biblical arifacts. I think his first name was Iowa or Ohio. Ah. Indiana thats it! Come on George snap out of it release these damn movies. I mean come on every one else comes out with like 2, 3, or 4 editions of the same movie. Be more money grubbing and greedy like the rest of the movie world please!
As I said in the first post
Sorry I even mentioned the name of that movie in the title of this thread. I should have known better. Nothing against anybody here or the conversation going on, it's all well and good, but there are like 80 or so other Lucas complaint threads started and in the archived pages, I don't think we need one more. This is not a thread about Star Wars or the lack of the original trilogy on DVD
