This question may sound stupid, but I'm still only 4 months old to the DVD scene, so please bear with me...

If there is a DVD that's only sold in Canada, can I still order it online and play it in my DVD player? It's a region 1 DVD, but I thought that there might be some technical reason why it's not offered in the US.

Just for the sake of reference, the DVD's I'm considering ordering online are the Smallville DVD and "My Mother's Castle."

I'm sure more than a few of you have experience with the Smallville DVD. Any help?

Yup, Canada's are region 1, and will play in US players. I suppose the reason they are not released in the US is due to contractural reasons with the studios, nothing more.

And the Smallville disc rocks, BTW.
