While Toy Story was well beloved when it debuted on DVD, it is predicted that Shrek will outsell that DVD release and become the top selling DVD of all time. Shrek benefits from both coming out sooner after the successful theatrical run, and also from there being a larger DVD market at this time than when the Toy Story DVDs hit the stores. In fact, Kelly Sooter, domestic home video chief of DreamWorks, sees the November 2 release as a potential to become the biggest selling video of the year.

In addition to the extended ending, the DVD will have 11 hours of bonus features. While I know that the extensive bonus features were listed in a previous thread, it's the you dub it feature I learned a little more about (there was some question about it in the previous thread). It features new DVD ROM technology that will allow people to voice their favorite characters thru the computer. I don't know if I sat in that movie thinking I could do a better job than Mike Meyers or Eddie Murphy, but I think this sounds like it could be fun!

But Shrek will have competition, with Disney unleashing their 2 disc Snow White on DVD. Does anybody think this actually will turn into a contest?
