No, there won't be a new game on there... I think the PS2 extras center around doing funky stuff with camera angles. Let me look it up again and I'll get back to you.
Though it tanked at the box office, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within should make a great DVD. Already announced for a 10/23 arrival (a mere three months after its theatrical release-why couldn't the studios do this kind of turn around on all movies? We'd be seeing Shrek this month or September if they did!), Columbia has delivered the box art as well as some preliminary specs: multiple audio commentaries, an interactive documentary, alternate opening sequence, a film deconstruction, outtakes and a music video. Expect more to be announced shortly.
I have also heard that there will be TWO versions of this released, one for regular DVD player owners, and one for PS2 owners. I guess the PS2 edition will have a new game on it, logically.

That's rather interesting. Why couldn't they do this with both editions of the movie? I hope more movie companies don't follow suit with this. It's hard enough keeping up with bare bones versions, special editions, ultimate editions, platinum editions, gold editions, collectors editions, and it goes on and on, and often one title has multiple editions out! Add a PS2 edition to the mix? ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
Actually, FF has been in theatre for only 3 weeks, not three months.

That's we have the DVD coming out in October, three months after the movie hit the theater.
Okay, it took me a while, but I tracked down the info at gamespot. Here it is:
Not much to go on, but there it is.During a recent roundtable discussion, Jun Aida, producer of the upcoming Square Pictures' film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, revealed that the company currently plans to release two DVD versions of the movie. One will be released as a regular DVD product, while the second will be released specifically for the Sony PlayStation 2. The company currently plans to add specific elements of interactivity to the PS2 DVD of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, like the ability to manipulate the camera in certain scenes.
"There will be two different sets of products," Aida explained. "For the PS2 DVD release, we will do some scenes using real-time rendering, where you will have the interactive ability to change the camera angles. So, you can sort of have your own version of the film, with your own camera positions."

Heh, heh, "Having your own version of the film."
It'd be cool if we could mess around with scenes and mix up the dialogue. Maybe then it would be a GOOD MOVIE.![]()
If they did this to more movies, such as Phantom Menace, where I could change the camera angles and audio to remove Jar Jar, I would buy a PS2
