According to The Digital Bits news section today, Columbia Tristar has officially announced FF:TSW for October 23! I knew we would be getting summer movie announcements soon. October is not too far considering Disney's Atlantis in February!

That does seem pretty quick for Final Fantasy. Will it have extra features on it, or will the special edition street later?

I wish all studios were on the ball like this for their releases. Sounds like more and more of them are beginning to get the bonus features for DVDs prepped during the production of the movie so they can get the special edition DVDs out faster. I wish Kevin Smith would take a cue with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I really don't want to wait 14 months for the two disc special edition of that one.

Well, I think the fact that Final Fantasy was a certifiable bomb may have had a hand in its accelerated release. A lot of poor-performing movies get swift home-release dates.

Yeah, I predict a loooooooong wait for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. But, as any of you who have seen Kevin Smith's special edition DVDs can attest, it's well worth it.
