Dang. But if a delay means that it'll have lots of groovy new extras, I say delay away!
Bad news, folks. November 6th is no longer the day to look forward to getting your Shrek DVD! No word yet on when it will be out, but it is being upgraded to a two disc set. I hope they jam it full with usefull extras!

Agreed! When I heard MASK OF ZORRO was being delayed I was peeved. But when they said they were upgrading to a 2 disc set, I was estatic. And it's the same thing here! SHREK is gonna be a must own for me. Mna, so many DVD to get...

Well, November 6th was NEVER the official street date. Dreamworks never said it would be. It was an estimated rumor started by someone close to Dreamworks I'm sure. When you first here about dates, take them with a grain of salt unless they are official.

Wonder if that means it'll have the other 2 Shrek voice recordings. Chris Farley died in the middle of recording, and Mike Myers started off with a non-Scottish accent.
I never knew that! It would be awesome if they included some out takes and deleted footage shot with Chris Farley as the voice. It would be a great glimpse of what could have been.
ROCKITSHIPPER: Mike Myers['s Shrek] started off with a non-Scottish accent. You'd probably be more shocked to know that Myers was toying with a Canadian accend for Big Green before he spliced Fat B*st*rd with Austin Powers to get that odd Welsh/Scottish dialect. I never realized Farley was to be in the movie...and, unless I'm mistaken, as the lead? I wonder if he would've gotten to slip in a ref to living "down by the river!"....CALHOUN07: I never knew that!
Looks like I will have to come out of the Stone Age and buy a DVD. Just let me tie up some loose ends on discovering fire....![]()
A recent issue of the ZENtertainment said the Shrek DVD was going to have 30 minutes of deleted scenes. I wouldn't be surprised if some of that didn't include the Canadian accented Shrek.
I would be surprised if any of the Chris Farley voice tracks are included. The filmmakers didn't want to talk much about Farley in a recent interview (in Starlog I think). They wanted to talk about the Shrek that is, not the Shrek that could have been.

Shrek Details
DVD Shrine has posted some preliminary special features from the yet-unannounced release of Shrek. Take these with a very big grain of salt, but here is what they listed as the features:
U-DUB-IT: Shrek's Revoice Studio (a DVD first!)
Behind-the-Scenes Featurette
This Way to Play! (Over 6 Hours of Fun!): Game Swamp (Over 15 Interactive Games and Activities) Shrek's Music Hall Favorite Scenes Selection Donkey's Tale Read-Along
Hidden Fun Facts and Much More
Filmmakers' Commentary
"The Tech of Shrek"
Storyboard Pitch of Outrageous Deleted Scenes
Technical Goofs
Hilarious International Talent Reel
Character Design Progression Reel
Playing Hints for Xbox Shrek Video Game (only available on this DVD!)
"Shrek in the Swamp Karaoke Dance Party"
And Much More!
Now, the U DUB IT feature sounds interesting. Could it be that we might get to view cut scenes with Farley's voice in place of Meyers? I don't know what that means, but one can always hope.
I think this will definatly make a great 2 disc set which I am definatly gonna purchase. It is Dreamwork's highest grossing picture so I expect they will go all out for this set.

U-dub it? My guess would be that they would include both sets of Mike Myers vocals. According to an article I read in Entertainment Weekly, Myers originally did the entire movie with a more traditionally ogrish voice. The vocals were completed, and the movie went on to be animated. But Myers wasn't happy... he thought he could do better. So he begged the producers to let him re-record his dialogue. He did, using the Scottish accent that made it into the final cut.
But... the article said that the animators had to reanimate Shrek to make his lip synch fit the new dialogue. I wonder how the DVD feature will work?

I really wonder what this is going to be, the U Dub It feature. I had my hopes high for the Men In Black DVD with the feature that would allow you to put together your own edit of the movie, but it was a small snippet of movie they allowed you to play around with, so it was so-so. After that, I am expecting the U Dub It feature to allow us to play with a short sequence from the film. Still should be cool.
