Woody Woodpecker on DVD?

I know there's news about Tom & Jerry, Popeye, and Disney cartoons on DVD, but what about Woody Woodpecker? I think he and his friends (Andy Panda, Chilly Willy, etc.) deserve at least ONE DVD collection. I doubt there's news on a DVD collection on these cartunes. Shockingly, Universal hasn't done that much work on even video collections, and to think that Lantz worked with Universal for over forty years, they can't give the cartune stars the attention they deserve. Yup, I'd gladly buy any Woody Woodpecker DVD Universal decides to release. I doubt they'd ever want to issue a complete collection, so a "Best of" disc is most likely. According to DVD File, the upcoming DVD of "Abbott and Costello Meet The Mummy" is supposed to have a Woody cartoon on it. I was gonna buy it anyway, but adding that cartoon makes it even more appealing (it comes out August 28).

Universal has just announced a 8/28 release date for another Abbott & Costello comedy favorite, Abbott & Costello Meet the Mummy. Retail is $24.95, and the already-released Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein is also being lowered to $24.95 as well.

Hmm, maybe it's "Ration Bored" like the VHS release, or maybe it's a different short.

No... it isn't real. Just the result of boredom and fooling around with PhotoShop.
On my fictional DVD I added 5 extra cartoons to Thad's list: "Half-Baked Alaska" (I'd like to see more Chilly Willy on a Woody DVD), "Dog Tax Dodgers" (Andy Panda), "Drooler's Delight", "Convict Concerto", "Smoked Hams", and replaced "Helter Shelter" with "Termites From Mars". A good bonus feature would be the short "Walter, Woody and the World of Animation" documentary that was on the Woody & Friends Vol. 1 VHS. Yes... I really was bored tonight.

I finally did order The World of Andy Panda VHS from Amazon.com tonight. In my search I found a DVD (!!) of the Andy Panda VHS on Amazon Auctions. Looked like a bootleg, though.

I didn't know you were going to alter it to remove all signs of the supporting characters. While I'd still love to see Woody on DVD (and buy a copy as soon as it would be available), I think Universal should know cartoon fans also have an interest in the other Lantz stars.

The reason why the supporting characters were removed you may ask? Well, I thought that it would be easier to convince Universal to release a DVD focused on Woody Woodpecker (who is a more widely known character) rather than including all the supporting characters right off the bat. They would come later.

Also, it makes it clearer to those signing the petition as to what would be on the disc. I'm sure we've all probably bought a compilation DVD or VHS tape thinking that it had certain content on it only to find out later that that wasn't the case.

For example, Image Entertainment released a DVD a while back titled Bettle Bailey/Hagar the Horrible/Betty Boop. Now, when I looked at the packaging all three were given equal importance. When I viewed the disc however, there were several Beetle Bailey cartoons and only one each for Hagar the Horrible and Betty Boop. Situations like that make me, personally, a bit skeptical about compilation releases. So - as a rule of thumb, I try to keep the petitions focused on one character or cartoon whenever possible.

Hopefully that explains the method behind the madness a bit better.

I think someone should release every Pooch the Pup cartoon on DVD along with some un-PC Lantz classics like "Jungle Jive" or "Who's Cookin' Who." That would be great!
