I would recommand Outlaw Star.
Im currently looking for another Anime series to get. Any ideas whats good? So far I have the following:
Cowboy Bebop Perfect Session
Rurouni Kenshin Vols 1-6[getting rest in next 2 weeks]
RoboTech Box Sets 1-3[getting box sets 4-7 in 2 weeks]
Batman:TAS
Tansformers Season 1
SpiderMan:Ultimate Villains Showdown[hopefully they make more]
DBZ [various DVDs]
I would recommand Outlaw Star.
I guess Neon Genesis Evangelion is a nice one to try. Every anime fan should probably check it out at least once.
If you're up to some "shock" cinema, Now and Then, Here and There is a good series to check out.

Cowboy Bebop and Transformers season 1 are quite nice; although Transfomers isn't technically anime.
"Decepticons FOREVER!!!" - Ravage, "The Agenda, Part III"
There's a little known anime called Blue Gender, it's published by funimation here in the states, but unlike their DBZ DVDs (I like the show but the DVDs are sub-par), they do a damn fine job of filling it with coool menus and goodies, it's about this guy, Yuji. He was chryogenically frozen to cure some terminal disease but when he wakes up the hospital is abandoned...by humans that is....Aliens ala the ones in starship troopers have infested earth and elimanated the majority of Earth's population, now Yuji must survive on his own, and he soon comes across a human resistance squad whom he journeys with...It's really cool, I also recommend Spawn The Animated Series, if you can handle the content, I'm pretty religious as a Christian but I still find the show intriguing...hope that helps ^^
Blue Gender, little known? I'm not being sarcastic when I say; I hadn't realized. It always seemed fairly popular to me.
It really all depends on what kind of series you like. I reccomend Gokudo. It's alot like Slayers Next or the Kenshin TV series in style, only better. Much better. I only have the first DVD so far, though, so I can't give an opinion on the series in full. So far, it's great. Simply a hillarious and fun show.
Also, I hear it's being released in the 5-4-4-4-4-5 format (which has held true for disks 1 and 2), so you get more episodes per disk than most other series'.
I didn't like Evangelion too much, but I loved the movie. Just the movie, End of Evangelion, made seeing the Eva TV series worth it. It's also good to see just to know what everyone is talking about when they mention it.
I would recommend Escaflowne to you. It's really a great series and a box set is being released on July 23rd so you can get the whole series is one purchase.

I would also suggest Trigun (also available as a box set), Outlaw Star (although you can just watch in on Adult Swim), and Record of Lodoss War (the original OVA series is being re-released on July 9th).

Thx for info. Ive seen some evangelion didnt really care for it although I only saw 2-3 episodes and that was mid-late in the series. Escaflowne I have on VHS and unless theres a huge extra bundle I'll skip. Outlaw Star Ive seen and liked just not enough to spend $150 on. Should also mention I own Gundam 0080 n 0083 already on VHS.
So far most votes seem to be for Trigun and Evangelion. Any others out there?
As far as my likes, Im pretty open. Loved Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, Robotech, DBZ and 0083. Didnt care for 0080. I like alot of action. Comedys nice as long as theres a good plot to the story.
If your in the mood for "a load of goffiness", spiced with a little sex, I'd suggest "Ranma 1/2" or "Urusei Yatsura".
Transformers - definately.
Other than that, the grand pappy of Manga, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman - the basis of Battle Of The Planets are now available the latter's DVD collection for Rhino.
