    Batman DVD Update!

    Like This Thread!
Good news & Bad news. The Good news is that WB is very intertested in releasing Batman and Batman Returns as Special Editions. Not too long ago, WB has little to no interest in re-releasing any of the Batman movies. But after seeing the potential hit FOX VIDEO has on their hands with Batman The Movie (1966), WB wants a peice of the Bat-action. The Bad news? WB wants to start these ASAP, and they'll do them only if Tim Burton is involved in the production of these two discs, either commentary or a behind-the-scenes documentary. If Burton can't do it, then WB will not make the SE discs. Timing couldn't be worse since Burton will be doing press junkets and events for the next few months for his newest movie, Planet of the Apes. But there's still hope. WB's recent Special Edition re-relaease of "The Fugitive" has been a top seller for the past few weeks, and WB is intereste din releasing alot of their back catalogue as special editions. Not only that, they ar elooking towards their TV vault for possible releases...

    More news soon!

Experience is the key bird boy. A few years back I decided to become prepaird and bought a drool guard for my comp. Live and learn. lol

Ah they'll do it. You know they will. The only bad thing is they'll drop the SE Batman projects if it takes TOO long. But if it doesn't take that long, and in that time they're getting money off of Burton, I'm sure they'll just want more.

I'm pretty confiendet WB will release them. I wonder why they haven't approached SChumacher to do a Special Edition BATMAN & ROBIN ? Well, I would like to see that hour or so worth of footage cut from BATMAN FOREVER. That could only make the movie better. Any new footage for B & R could only make it more...well...worse.

Even if it takes too long to cash in on the success of the 1966 DVD movie, there WILL be another Batman feature release in the future, and another chance to cash in on the franchise. The special editions WILL come out, it's just a matter of when. The same with the Star Trek movies.

So which TV shows are they looking at? I assume from the context that it would be the Batman shows, but is that the orginal 60's camp series or the animated series'?

Also, do you know if they will be in keep cases or crapper cases?

Actually, FOX owns the rights to the 1966 BATMAN series., which means we could get a good box set out of that. As for WB, they're currently digitally remastering alot of their own Looney Tunes shorts. And word has it that they're looking into their other animated shows as well, but it wasn't specified.

I really hope that they release at least the first 3 on Special Edition DVD. Batman Forever could have been SO much better if it had that hour of footage to it. It would also definitely be darker.

I posted a list of the 17 or so cut scenes from FOREVER here right after the SUPERMAN movies came to DVD, and there was alot of dark stuff. The opening scene where Two-Face kills a guard was cut, which I wanna see back in. The whole first 30 minutes was so shuffled around and mixed up. The novelization and comic adaption show some of the cut scenes. I'd prefer the dark stuff in there. I woul dlike to see a SE edition of BF. It does sorta deserve it being the 2nd highest grossing movie in the series.

Also, it may be in a keep case. I keep hearing CITIZEN KANE will be in a keep case, and that could be the first step for WB. Besides, their recenbt New Line releases have been Keep cases, not snapper cases! WOO!

Yeah I remember that post DG, cuz boy did I let lose on my reply! I mean how could you cut that stuff out!! It would have helped the movie SO much! Superman with all the added scenes is like over 2 hours long and every minute is great. So what if your movie is gonna run long! Put it all back in!

Exactly! If ya have a DVD player, you can just jump to the new scenes you want to see, or you can watch it over a couple nights. Although, I assume WB will put some deleted scenes back in, then have some seperate from the movie, like their current SUPERMAN DVD. Either way is fine with me! Awesome new avatar, Nightwing

lol, thanks DG. It's just something I threw together quick cuz it's kinda temporary (but I'll still hang on to it somewhere) while I fix my second one and finish a third one.

That'd be too sweet. I mean, even though I'm not that much of a fan of Batman Returns, to have big delux DVDs for all three of those Batman movies would still be quite a treat.

That reminds me, I need to get my new one up as well. As for the DVD, I think they'd make great 2 disc sewt, like the upcoming MASK OF ZORRO 2 DVD Set. Have a regular and extended version on one disc, and then a plethora of extrasa on the second. How can those NOT do good??

Hey Thanx! I've been meaning to comment on yours, actually. That's such a chilling and AWESOME pic of the Joker, from MAD LOVE - right? I love how people are getting so creative with their avatars. I could about 5 more waiting to be used, including an awesome one from OVER THE EDGE.

    Now...about those DVDs....
