There's No Need to Fear, "Underdog: The Complete Series" Will Soon Be Here! (In January 2012)

YES!!! I just found out a few moments ago on tvshowsondvd.com, that one of my favorite classic cartoons from my childhood will soon get a complete series from Vivendi/Universal...Underdog!!!

If nobody remembers it, it's the adventures of a humble character named Shoeshine-Boy who changes into the superhero Underdog (played by Wally Cox) whenever there's trouble, mainly when Sweet Polly Purebred gets chased by Riff-Raff or the horrible Simon Bar-Sinister.

Unfortunately, there's no word yet on any of the other cartoon segments but they most likely should be there. If nobody remembers them, they are:

Go-Go Gophers: 2 trouble causing Native-American gophers making life miserable for some soldiers at a local fort

Tennessee Tuxedo & Chumley: a wise-guy penguin (played by Don Adams) and his walrus sidekick always trying to escape the zoo to succeed in business. Plus, they always get help from Phineas J. Whoopie ( played by F-Troop's Larry Storch)

Klondike Cat: a Royal Canadian Mounted Police cat always trying to capture a wise-guy mouse named Savoir-Faire.
Savoir-Faire: Savoir-Faire is everywhere!!!
Klondike Cat: I'LL MAKE MINCE-MEAT OUT OF THAT MOUSE!!!!!

I still have all 3 "Best of" DVDs from Classic Media. Until I get more info, I won't be trading them to FYE just yet.

The complete series won't be until January 24, 2012. It'll be worth the wait!!!

Really looking forward to this. Underdog was one of my favorites along with George of the Jungle when they used to re-run it in on CN in the 90's.

There's plenty out there about it. They're trying to reconstruct it to the way it was originally released. The box art is out there; go on amazon. Tennesse Tuxido will NOT be on this release because (as many may not know) Tennesse Tuxido had his own show before Underdog, and his cartoons were later on seen in Underdog reruns. Maybe there will be a complete Tennesse Tuxido from Shout Factory in the near future. I did mention it to them on Facebook. Hope this info helps.
