New ROUGHNECKS DVD Specs Announced!
While I am sorta miffed the episodes are being released out of order (The Hydora Campaign should've been next), it's still great to see this series released. Here's the info:
Roughnecks: Starship Troopers has been one of the new breed of highly polished computer animated cartoons since its launch in 1999. After the successful release of the first volume of episodes from the series, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment is preparing to release the second volume of the series, The Tesca Campaign this September.
Johnny Rico and his crew are furious when they find out they've been partnered up with the suspicious T'Phai to combat an infestation of alien bugs on Zegema Beach. But after Rico suffers a near-fatal attack by a Giant Spider Bug and T'Phai takes on a team of vicious Control Bugs and Tanker Worms, the two men and the Troopers realize if they want to survive, they're going to have to work together. Gathering their strength, weapons and combat-tested skills, the team prepares to attack the most loathsome creatures in the universe - for what they hope will be the last time.
Like the previous volume, the new DVD will present the show in its original fullscreen ratio, accompanied by a Dolby 2-Channel surround track. The disc will also contain an audio commentary, and a photo gallery.
"Roughnecks: Starship Troopers - The Tesca Campaign" will come to DVD on September 18th and will carry a suggested retail price of $24.95
An Audio Commentary! Swanky...

Shibby!
The first DVD didn't have this. In fact, they were reaching so hard to make it LOOK LIKE it had some good stuff on it that when you flip it over it lists interactive menus as a bonus feature. You know they are reaching then.
I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

AT least they're slowing adding new features. And this is s tep up from the X-MEN animated VDDs which are bare to the bone. I hope more animated TV shows get treated better and better as they go along. It'd be sweet to see the 8th and final ROUGHNECKS DVD packed to the gills.

Audio commentary is a good start. That's more than most animated shows on DVD get.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing commcercials for the show on disc. I like things like that. It's sorta neat. A still gallery is a good idea, and it is a great start.

You know, that reminds me of one bonus feature that I would like to see on animated shows on DVD, and that's the ORIGINAL vintage commercials for the sponsors that aired their commercials during the original run of the show. I know that some people may not want this, but old commercials are cool to watch for nostolgic purposes, and it would be fun to have them on the DVD either as a separate bonus feature or you could slect to have them put at the bumpers with a seemless branching selection, like the Me, Myself and Irene DVD. It would be a really great, original bonus feature that I think would be popular if they could get it done. And, heck, companies might pay to have their commericals on the DVDs and bring the prices down!
