    DVD's!

    Like This Thread!
Hey everyone! First off, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe summer. Now, this is a little poll. Since, DVD's are pretty big over on this board, I'd thought I'd start a thread where everyone can post up their list of DVD's they own. Also, I'd be cool, if we'd also include what else we'd like to see on DVD (mostly TV shows, since all movies will eventually get released). This way, we can get a glimpse of everybody's different tastes. Cya!

My list of DVD's is really, really short, since I've just started to collect them (I only have 3 so far)

Men in Black (collector's series - the 1 disc version)
Card Captor Sakura, Vol 1: The Clow
Card Captor Sakura, Vol. 2: Everlasting Memories

The CCS ones are of the subtitled version, and I'm planning to collect the series. I'm really pleased with how they'd done the DVDs.

As for things I'd like to see on DVD. I can't think of much, but I would like to see episode of Men in Black: The Series on DVD. At the least, I would be happy if they put one out with some of the fans' favourite episodes.

I used to own more than just these, but I've sold off a good portion of my collection in the past few months, either because I decided that I didn't like the movie or because better versions were being released. I sold off three of my Hitchcock DVDs last week, for example, cause special editions were coming out in the fall.

    Re: DVD's!

Yeah, I can post mine, if you really wanna see what I have (I know DG is curious) but I will need to clear a day off from work to do it!
I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

    Dude

Brian, you just might have me beat on my list. I think I have about 325 or so titles to post. How many do you have, exactly? NOBODY can say I have too many now! I AM NOT WORTHY, I AM NOT WORTHY!

Ok, by popular demand (?) here is my DVD list, broken down in to categories, also. This is in order as they appear on my shelves, which is not in alphabetical order. I tend to place them according to director, or by sub genre (like all the Disney animation together, anime is together, Kevin Smith's movies are together, mock documentaries are together, and so on.) Hope that despite the lack of an alphabetical order, you can see the logic behind how they are organized!

yes, this is in no way longer than Brian's list. How long have you been collecting, Brian?

I'm not exactly sure how many DVDs I have at the moment, probably about 450 (of which several dozen are with various friends right now). I got my first DVD player in March 1998. The first DVDs I ever bought were Batman, Air Force One, Help, Rocky, and The Rock (of which I only still have Batman and Help). I bought most of them during the heyday of online coupons, when Reel.com would have $10 off $30 every other day, and 800.com had their 3 DVDs for $1 promotion, etc., etc. Then when all the deals went away, and I realized how much I had spent, I sold off a lot of what I had and started renting instead of buying. I bought maybe a dozen DVDs in all of 2000. But recently I've started buying more of them, especially as I realize all the good ones that came out that I missed.

At this very moment I'm working on a Toon Zone DVD page, which will have reviews of many of the animated DVDs that are out now. It'll be a much nicer-looking version of my old DVD page. This time I don't plan on reviewing everything myself, so I'm getting people to help out with that.

Okay, the big question is...How often do we actually rewatch all of the films we buy? I'm guilty of several instances where I still haven't watched some of the extras or in some other cases have gone straight to the extras and haven't yet watched the film.

There are actually some discs I'll rewatch quite a bit, although most of them, well, I just stopped watching after awhile. I'm also guilty of skipping right to the extras on some DVDs. I find the extras interesting, especially the easter eggs. The INDEPENDCE DAY DVD has great easter eggs.

I've watched Kevin Smiths DVDs several times. Same with Crumb, Happiness, Welcome to the Dollhouse, and some others.

I might take you up on your offer, DG. I'm still working out how this new page will work, but as soon as I've figured it out I'll let you know.

I've only watched most of my DVDs once, but the ones I've rewatched several times are Spinal Tap., Rushmore, the Beatles movies, The Graduate, Singin in the Rain, and American Grafitti (those last three are among my favorite movies ever).

Oh yeah, Rushmore is also one I've watched several times. And As Good as it Gets, Batman Beyond ROTJ, the Toy Story movies, Office Space, and There's Something About Mary.

As for my three favorite of all time...that's hard, real hard. Can I pick three from each genre instead?
