I was under the impression that the special features were only for the Blu Ray when you bought those combo packs. Now...I'm a little confused. It makes sense when the studio releases the combo pack and a barebones DVD. But what about when the studio releases a 2-disc special edition DVD as well? Just now I was looking at a movie that's getting a release like that and things aren't being made clear. The 2-dics SE DVD and the combo pack have the same exact special features except the combo pack has an additional one. So, in a case like this, are the special features on the combo pack for the DVD and the Blu Ray just has that one additional feature (plus the BD Live)?

The reason I ask is because while checking out this weeks' weekly ads all the store discounts are for the combo pack. Which is kinda annoying. The 2-disc is cheaper than the combo pack, which is great, but it's being sold full price. Which is something you rarely see for a DVD on it's first week of release. Stores always offer discounts the first week. It's a sneaky move by the studios. With the weeks' discount, the combo pack is only $2 dollars cheaper than the 2-disc edition. So, if the special features are for the DVD people may say, "so for an extra $2 I can get a Blu Ray." And if the special features are just Blu Ray, the Blu Ray owners will be happy that the gap in prices between DVDs and Blu Rays is getting smaller.

It's a win-win for the studio.
