    GREAT animation news!!!!

    Like This Thread!
Ok, that was just a smigeon sarcastic of me to title my post as such. Maybe you have heard about this already, but I don't recall seeing a post here about it so I figured, why the heck not?

DIC has struck and agreement with Lions Gate to distrubute their animation on DVD. Yes, in fact, we will be seeing Sabrina the Animated Series and Mummies Alive on DVD before the end of summer. Hoooo boy! And expect to see releases of Action Man, Super Duper Sumos, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego, Madeline, The Wacky World of Tex Avery, Inspector Gadget, Sailor Moon, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Evolution to come out in the future. Yes, the future of animation on DVD is so bright, I gotta wear shades.

Being that Mummies Alive is produced by Ivan Reitman (Ghostbuster, Evolution) part of the deal had to include that he would get to develop an animated Evolution series, debuting on Fox Kids this fall.

DIC has also aquired Golden Books.

I think ADV is waiting for permission to get the Japanese uncut episodes of the 1st and 2nd seasons of Sailor Moon before it gets on DVD.

Now a Tex Avery DVD might be cool! As for the rest, didn't watch them for free, surely won't pay to watch. Of course, instead of a DVD player I just have a rock sitting on top of my TV, so what I think doesn't matter.

Does anyone else find it eerily pediophelia-like the way DIC has a kid's voice pronounce their name at the end of each of their shows?

Un-freakin'-believeable! Not to mention ri-golldurn-diculous. "Sabrina: the Animated Series" will be on DVD in a matter of months, yet DVDs of much more deserving shows like "Ren & Stimpy" and "Rocko's Modern Life" can barely get off the ground. Allow me to look skyward and quote Homer Simpson on the "Simpsons" episode when they were on the Japanese game show:

    "Why are you so cruel?"

BTW, if you haven't already, I implore you to sign a petition to get "R&S" and "R'sML" on DVD. It's here:

I know Im gonna get a lot of laughs and many put downs for this, but I'll say it anyway,to bad Super Mario Bros. isn't among their release list,I liked that Cartoon, equal to Sonic The Hedgehog Alot,as well as Legond Of Zealda(I which they made more LOZ Episodes it deserved more attention, don't you agree),Captain N ect.(I love 80's toons so much, those were the days you could actually get up early with a big bolw of ceral and watch your full of Cartoons).

I used to watch both of them(Meaning Super Mario All-Stars And Sonic The Hedgehog) in 1996 of fall on Usa every Morning, you know back when Usa actually had Cartoon On,Like Action Extrem Team on Monday-Fridays,o well guess I'll have to keep dreaming,it's all I have left you know. But anyways Im glad to see Sonic The Hedgehog is going on Dvd,i've been wanting to get doom day project, and sonic boom ect. for a long time now, this is great news to me,thank you for the info man.

Um, no. Obviously, you missed the travesty that was the Wacky World of Tex Avery. The show had NOTHING to do with classic Tex Avery cartoons. Instead, DIC animated a bunch of random crap and had them hosted by a short animated Texan called Tex Avery. That's it. The show did an absolute disservice to Avery's memory and was reviled by cartoon lovers across the globe.

While we may get a few good releases out of this, it still irks me that Paramount and Warner are so slow to get the Nickelodeon libary out and the Batman/Superman libary out, respectively. Sure, some of these DIC titles may be fun to have on DVD, but I just wish somebody would give the same attention to animation libaries at some other lables.

    Sonic and others

Personally, I'm tickled to hear that DIC will make some of their shows available. They did produce a few keepers! The original Satam Sonic was an excellent show. And yes, I also enjoyed Legend of Zelda. Bob Forward's writing is always fun, and he gave Link a very likeable personality. I even have a soft spot in my heart for the goofy Inspector Gadget. And I would hope that DIC would release the early and syndicated versions of Real Ghostbusters--something that fans everywhere would snatch up!

And yes, the Tex Avery rip off was ugly and awful to watch!

DITTO! How do you like that, I don't even have to say anything. Well, I will anyway. I'd love to get the SatAM Sonic show and Legend of Zelda on DVD!! And The Real Ghostbusters too of course, but I say that too often as it is, so I'll humor us all by being quiet.....for now....

Now the Real Ghostbusters I would love to see on DVD. I absolutely adored that show in the 80s, and it holds up pretty darn well now. I also got a kick out of the Zelda series, though I haven't seen it in years.

And Mummies Alive is actually fairly watchable.

I'd sure get Real Ghostbusters on DVD too. As I said before, there may be a few good animated titles on DVD that surface out of this deal over all.

But why start with Sabrina? The Sabrina, the Teenage Witch movie and TV show are not yet on DVD (YES, I would buy those!)

You would buy Sabrina: TAS and Sabrine: TTW? Blech....

I would definatly get Ghostbusters, one of the fondest memories of my past was that show. I can remember almost begging my mom to tape it everyday when I was at school.

AAAGGGHHHH, No, not the animated schlock! The live action schlock I would seriously consider...if only for Melissa Joan Hart.

Oooohhh...I find both the show and cartoon essentially unwatchable and boring. Salem can be funny from time to time, but the shows are just...blah...

The first time I ever saw a DIC cartoon, was early in the morning at about 6:00 am when I was 5/6 years old. That scene at the end with the dark bedroom and the voice saying "DIC" creeped me out then and it still does now

I'd probably buy this even though I don't usually watch the current version on CN.

I hear that SAILOR MOON gets very...umm....risque in the unedited version. There's nudity, but not tasteless stuff. SAILOR MOON seems to...girly...for my taste so I doubt I'd ever pick it up, edited or unedited.

Hmmm...too bad they don't have an unedited version like this for Sabrina the Animated Series!
