So, I got Battle of Los Angeles 2006 direct from the PWG website. They give me some HighSpots DVDs without music. I guess they don't do a separate, music'd cuts anymore. But what they do have is animated vs. screens complete with the guys taunting. They're just as good, if not better, than WWE's. El Generico drinks a cup of water in his, which makes it the best vs. screen taunt in history. Totally makes RoH's and Smart Mark's videos look like amateur garbage. I'd prefer seeing entrances with music and really cool name bars, but this'll do.

Hope nobody minds me talking about the Wrestlemania Anthology here.

Its a very wonderful set however I am irked by the music rights. During the Flair/Savage tilt from mania VIII, Flair has his current "WHOO" intro rather than his old theme he had during his first WWE stint (1991-93)

The worst use of this was during the Hogan/Rock classic from Mania X-8 when Hogan came out to generic music. It seemed so out of place since Hogan does his air guitar poses during his entrance. I guess they couldn't get the rights to Voodoo Child.
Grampa: I say we call Matlock. He'll find the culprit. It's probably that evil Gavin MacLeod or George "Goober" Lindsay.

    Bart: Grampa, Matlock's not real.

Grampa: Neither are my teeth, but I can still eat corn on the cob, if someone cuts it off and smushes it into a fine paste. Now that's good eatin'!

Which makes even less sense, because WWE seems to own that other song and in some 2003 releases, used that 91-93 theme to replace Flair's current and classic one.

That's my rant for the thread, but anyways, I got Wrestlemania X-Seven and 2000 from my local FYE this year, and I think the ladder match DVD will be a good purchase. I'm probably not going to get more DVD's right now, I've got about 50 right now, and I might sell a few.
Yes, I agree with you completly. They could have done something special and gone over the enitre history of DX, which might be a little bit of trouble concerning the bad blood from the latter members. I was also disapointed to not hear anything from Shawn Micheals or Triple H. I like both guys and enjoy hearing what they say, especially Hunter who is quite funny and knows alot about the history of wrestling. Maybe one day in the future, we'll get the DX DVD that the fans really want.

What's this about a special edition release of Wrestlemania 3?

They never used any of the NWO themes outside of live shows, I've heard that same generic on Wrestlemania X8 on the Gamecube.

WWE used the true NWO theme for the NWO DVD... and that's about it as far as DVD and game releases go. There's supposedly a WM III SE coming out to coincide with WM 23 (although it's slated for a March release) - I don't think WWE has confirmed it, but I hope they do, as it certainly deserves it's own DVD release.

I watched Heroes of World Class last week, and it's definitely a 10/10 documentary. The production values are close to WWE's, with lots of footage being used to tell the story of the promotion, and a lot of emotional stuff as well (like Kevin Von Erich going through the burnt Sportatorium and making note of significant parts of the building that meant something to him during the heyday of the promotion). There are also about five hours of extras, although I've only watched the deleted scenes and ROH video of Cornette talking about the company. Definitely a steal at $15 (Best Buy's price), as you get a lot for your money, including a full match in the extras. Vive Guerrero! is $13 at BB, and they also have a 10 event lucha set for $8 - both of which I intend to purchase at some point once I've finished the massive Heroes set.

Homicide swore that he would finally win the world title by the end of 2006, or quit Ring of Honor. The champion, Brian Danielson, has been holding that title since September of '95. An era ends here... but which one?

    Also on the card...
1.Christopher Daniels vs. Davey Richards vs. Jimmy Rave vs. El Generico (Four Corner Survival)
    2. Adam Pearce vs. Ricky Reyes
    3. Jimmy Jacobs & Brent Albright vs. Colt Cabana & BJ Whitmer
    4. Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli
    5. Nigel McGuinness vs. Jimmy Rave
    6. CIMA, Shingo & Matt Sydal vs. Austin Aries, Roderick Strong & Delirious (Dragon Gate Rules Match)

Note that Ring of Honor is also running another buy 3, get 1 free special until Wednesday to kick off this weekend's Fifth Year Festival,

Is that a good match listing for the Horsemen DVD? I wasn't watching around that time, but I hear nothing but praise for them, so I'm really curious to check it out.

Also, FYI, apparently Blockbuster Video is getting exclusive WWE DVDs. They have a 2-Disc Royal Rumble 2007 set for next Tuesday, as well as a Blockbuster Exclusive version of No Way Out 2007 in the computer. As far as what makes them exclusive, as far as extra features, I don't know. I've yet to get my hands on one, but they're claiming it.

Fairly disappointing, the ad on the web site stated that it would cover all its incarnations and the matches pretty much ignore Benoit, McMichael, Windham, Sid Vicious, Zbysco, Pillman, Sting, etc.

Also...another Flair DVD and we sitll don't have Flair vs Sting from the 1st clash?

Hate to post so early after my last one, but I got my hands on that exlusive Royal Rumble disc. It has on it:

-John Cena v. Umaga: Last Man Standing Match Contract Signing from Raw.
-Shawn Michaels v. Edge: Street Fight from the last Raw before the Rumble.
-Undertaker v. Ken Kennedy for Undertaker's place in the WWE Title Match at the Rumble from Smackdown.
-Bobby Lashley v. Test v. Rob Van Dam for the ECW Title from ECW on Sci-Fi.

    Not bad.

And Paul Roma! Wait, maybe he should be ignored.

I think this was originally supposed to be a 3-dvd set, too.

    Also...

    - WWE will be releasing a special "Hardcore Edition" of Mick Foley's Greatest Hits and Misses DVD. The new edition will feature an extra DVD. The extra DVD will feature the following:

    * Foley vs. Randy Orton from Backlash 2004
    * Foley vs. Edge from WrestleMania 22
from * Foley & Edge vs. Terry Funk & Tommy DreamerECW One Night Stand II
    * Foley vs. Ric Flair from Summerslam 2006

credit to 411mania, although no date given.

I was excited about this one, I even sold off the two-discer but now I'm disappointed cause all the 3rd disc is stuff from 2004-present. I ahvent watched wrestling since the late 90s, would have been more happy with some more of his Mankind/Undertaker matches or stuf from WCW

There is no way I'm buying that new DX dvd and the only reason I would buy the Extreme Rules dvd is for the original ECW matches on the first disc.

I will be glad when TNA releases their Early Days dvd, because a lot of good stuff from the Wednesday night pay per views they can put on there.

Watch the commerical on tv just now, the full impact just hit me: New DX is getting three discs to cover their seven months of existance.

While a decade of Horseman legacy gets dropped down to two discs.

    I feel phsyically ill.

It was. Got downgraded at some point

Aesthetically, I like that new cover better than the mock-up, but I'm kinda mixed on emphasizing one specific incarnation of the Horsemen. But it is the definitive incarnation, at least IMO, so I'm satisfied.

I like that cover far more than the original mock-up - it's got the Horsemen doing the sign, raising the gold, and features the best incarnation. Maybe a 3-disc version will be used for certain retailers. In the newest Observer, it's stated that WWE is definitely working on a Mr. Perfect DVD, although no release date has been set.

Here's the cover for the WrestleMania III: Championship Edition DVD -

Here's some info on it -
--The Wrestlemania III DVD out in two weeks features the complete original event (with Jesse Ventura's stuff left in), plus Randy Savage vs. George Steele from SNME, and lots of Steamboat & Savage interviews. Disc 2 includes the Saturday Night Main Event show that built up the show and Hogan, Steamboat and Andre interviews (thanks to Rob Bokon)
Here's the cover for the Mick Foley's Greatest Hits and Misses: Hardcore Edition DVD -

As for info, it's just the existing set with a new third disc containing his more recent matches with Edge, Orton, and the tag match at ONS '06 with commentary by Mick and Joey Styles.
