Technically, the DVD goes on sale Tuesday, but some big chain DVD stores are stocking them early. (I got mine at fye earlier today for $27.)

I haven't seen the Camp Pikachu short yet, but I have taken a look at the other extras. The animation progression is expanded from last year's movie, as it includes 6 scenes with varying levels of unfinished-ness. (For example, once scene only has 3 different layouts, while another has 6.) The Venice Location extra is kinda dull. It shows how Altomare is pretty much a complete replica of Venice, even down to the same locations and fences, but it doesn't do any interviews or anything, just a musical tour of Venice and Altomare. I do wish Miramax would have interviewed the Japanese staff. There's another trivia game, but this one's narrated by a random voice instead of Brock, and looks a lot less stylized.

Also, Miramax has done something which really pisses off many DVD viewers: they put trailers in before you can get to the menu. I wish DVD companies didn't do this, as most people don't even WATCH said trailers unless they're unskippable (luckily, these are). The only one worth watching is Lion King 1/2.

And if you buy MVP 2, you can mail the UPCs in for both movies & get a $5 rebate. Whoopie.

As for the movie itself, I managed to see it in theaters. (I'm one of the lucky few who saw all 5 movies in theaters.) It's my 2nd favorite after the 3rd movie. Two new thieves named Annie & Oakley are trying to steal a mystic gem called the Soul Dew, which resides in Altomare. Ash & co. just HAPPEN to be in the same city, with Ash & Misty competing in a pretty cool water race. (Misty's Corsola gets some screen time, as does Ash's Totodile) After the race, Ash is separated from Misty & Brock and runs into a young girl being chased after by two shady criminals, Annie & Oakley. One thing leads to another and Ash & the Ashettes meet Latios and Latias. They have to help the two illegitimate children of Lugia protect the Soul Dew from the main villains of the movie, or else Altomare will flood and be destroyed.

Unlike Movie 4, you really explore ALL the legendaries, and feel for both Latios and Latias as the movie goes on. Unfortunately, the race at the beginning is ruined by a half-assed version of "Master Quest." After "Born to be a Winner," which was actually pretty good and better than the TV version, I was expecting maybe 4Kids might do better, but no, they crapped out.

EDIT: OK, watched Camp Pikachu. The theme song this time is "Pokémon Hoedown." I'm sure you can imagine what it sounds like. The Pichu Bros. return with a new friend, Wynaut. They get lost after being thrown from a train and meet up with Pikachu. Returning from the previous Pikachu shorts are Cyndaquil, Totodile, Togepi, and Psyduck, while Corsola and Phanpy make their debuts. Volbeat helps out the gang and Duskull plays some pranks as well. Also, Psyduck finally gets to act like Psyduck, something that hasn't been done much since the gang left Kanto for the Orange Islands way back when. One thing I both hated and loved was the fact that it was in widescreen and had the ending credits. I loved it because it was, in fact, in widescreen. I hated it because the feature film wasn't widescreen too!

I saw the movie in Japan 7 months before it came to the States. It's not the best ones, but I like it for its music, which will undoubtedly be edited out and replaced by an American song.
The dub better be good...

The dub better be good...:mad:Because Miramax is releasing it, the Japanese music is the same, except for the intro and ending themes, which are dub songs (not brand new ones, the opening is Master Quest and the ending is a mix of Together, Forever; You & Me & Pokémon, The Time Has Come, and My Best Friends, all remixed).

Also, the chapter points are screwed up. The first chapter is "The World of Pokémon" then the beginning with Annie & Oakley, then the title, then the intro, and and after the race is when Chapter 1 ends, so you can't just "jump" to the intro or past the World of Pokémon crap.

Did nobody buy Pokémon Heroes, or did I scare everyone away?

I already have it in Japanese (:D), but I do plan to buy the English version, because of the promo cards, and the poster.

I have wallscrolls and posters of Kanto and Johto Pokemon, but I have none with any Hoenn Pokemon. :o

The poster only lists about 30 Hoenn Pokémon. It's not a full poster. You need to get a specific Ruby/Sapphire Player's Guide for that. (Dunno which one, though.)

Also, I made a mistake, the ending plays "Pikachu (I Choose You)" (aka the Pikachu Latin song), not Together, Forever. Only "You & Me & Pokémon" is remixed.

Just picked it up it's really good...compared to the last dub...still it holds nothing to the jap version.

My local Wal-Mart sucks and doesn't have it, and other than driving an hour one-way to the nearest mall to pay full retail (Suncoast sucks) I'm out of luck. I may try DeepDiscountDVD.com (never ordered from them before), so hopefully that'll work out. After all, I've got a comparison to do for my website!

And the mini-movie's widescreen? Alright :D Maybe they're testing it to see how people react, and if there are enough positive reactions then the first Advanced Generation movie will be available in widescreen!?!?

How's the commentary?

The Prima Strategy guide has a poster of the Hoenn Pokemon, but it includes the old Pokemon you can get in the game, and Deoxys and Jirachi are not on it.

There is NO commentary.

The only extras worth watching are Camp Pikachu and the Venice Location Shoot. I gotta say, they really went all out trying to make Altomare look like Venice. The trivia game is crap (The trivia states Bianca only knew Latios and Latias for a few days, whereas the dub never states how long Bianca has known them, just Lorenzo), and the Character files are just bios on all the important Pokémon.

So only 2 people have the DVD?

Just got it last night. Because I'm lazy, I'll just copy and paste what I posted on the Bulbagarden forums:

-Wow, previews for upcoming movies before the movie's title menu is really annoying. Good thing you can skip 'em.

-Teacher's Pet was supposed to be out February 2004? Guess things have changed since they made that trailer, because the movie's already out (and it bombed at the box office, too)

-Dear God, why are they making a(nother) sequel to the Lion King?

-Hey, Camp Pikachu is shown in widescreen! Woohoo!

-And it has the original music!

-AND it uses an instrumental version of "Pokettaari Monsutaari" as the ending theme!

-Poo, the main feature's fullscreen.

-And yup, the entire opening scene (http://www.serebii.net/movies/latias_latios/legend.shtml) is cut. All 2 minutes of it.

-On my video, the video for the short and the movie seemed really really dark to me. Brock's skin looked almost brown during the opening of the movie, the video was so dark. Do I have a defective DVD, or are they all like that?

-Lots of mistranslated dialogue regarding the legend.

Duke

It doesn't seem that dark to me.

All Disney kids films have those stupid trailers, even the Miyazaki works. And Lion King 1/2 is a semi-sequel. Basically, Timon & Pumbaa recount the first film, show their own backstory, and add in their own comments, MST3K-style.

They kept the music! YES! I think Pokettaari Monsutaari is the one of the best Japanese Pokemon songs ever. I'm listening to it right now (with the lyrics).
In fact, the best thing about Pokemon Heroes were the songs.

I'll buy Pokemon Heroes on DVD as soon as I get a car.

And I'll be the judge of how bad the edit was to the opening...

Basically, the movie starts with the evil girls stealing the book and explaining the legend.

I only need Pokemon 4 and 5 to have all movies. I haven't the 5th one yet, I'll try to buy it soon. I want it so bad
