Tenchi airs uncut on International Channel every Friday and Sunday at 11 pm eastern. Tonight's episode is "No Need For Partners." Here's (http://animenewsnetwork.com/columns/edit-list.php?id=60) the edit list for this episode from its original Toonami run, because we know that anime with adult stuff doesn't belong on Toonami because they edit it so bad that it becomes teh s uck. Enjoy!

That OP kicks so much ass.
"Hey, what happened to the scene I was just in?"
Something happens to mess up someone's plan yet again. So is the saga of Tenchi.
I remember the next episode well. It's undenyably hilarious.
hmm. still jealous that you guys get to see Tenchi on IC.
Darn you Dish! Why must you deprive me of Tenchi!
Anyway, while I was at best buy today, I did see a Tenchi Universe DVD, I was tempted to buy it, i think I may someday down the road, I've just got my cash aligned for other things right now.

I always wished the OAV series had gotten Kiyone off the wrecked Soja she was left stranded on (unless you consider Movie 2 to be in OAV continuity, which still has fans arguing either way). When Mihoshi was burned out of her home in "Magical Project S", and moved in with Kiyone to start plotting some matchmaking for her, that's when I came to the realization that these Galaxy Police officers are just about as classic a love-hate comedic duo in their way as Ayeka and Ryoko are. Mihoshi is a pretty good character by herself, but Kiyone gives her an extra dimension. This episode is a classic example of how Kiyone tries to advance her career in a 2 + 2=4 world, only to have her world constantly turned upside down as Mihoshi keeps intruding her 2 + 2=5 existence into hers! One has to feel for the poor girl as she bemoans her fate at the conclusion of the episode....

I wouldn't dislike Kiyone so much if they didn't ruin Mihoshi at the same time. In the OVAs, Mihoshi had just enough dumb luck that you could see how she could manage to be competent enough of the time to get by. In the TV versions of Tenchi, she's a completely worthless, lazy, constant screw-up.
But then the TV versions screwed up most of the characters anyway. Washu became the classic mad scientist who can't make an invention that works properly, and I absolutely hate her little A & B puppets. They give her this back story of being evil, but she doesn't act that way during the whole series. Nor does Ryoko act out her new backstory of piracy, and her desire for Tenchi seems rather random and out of nowhere.
Not to mention that every major plot element of Tenchi Universe depends on coincedences rather than the logical progression of events in the OVA. Ah well, Tenchi Universe still does the wacky hijinks well at least.

I agree that the OAV Mihoshi is a more complex and better character than in the TV series, but it needn't necessarily be because of Kiyone. If Mihoshi were to retain her quality of unbelievable luck, it would be easy to make it so that whatever is great luck for Mihoshi invariably works out to be the worst possible luck for Kiyone (in fact, that's exactly what happened in the OAV Mihoshi special!)
You have a point about Ryoko, though I have to note that she does return to her criminal ways in "Tenchi in Tokyo" (in fact, she returns to her thieving ways a time or two in "Tenchi Universe"), something that is never ever in view in the OAVs (even though Ryoko--and Washu for that matter--are rough and wild characters in the OAVs, their pasts are more being victims of Kagato rather than being truly criminal).
