No, it not a typo for Enter the martix being in the top ten.

Atleast it didn't score in the top 4...

Considering how many die-hard Matrix fans that were around before Revolutions came out, I'm not surprised. If I remember correctly (and I'm probably not), you had to buy this game to get the full story of the Matrix series. Just another way for the big wigs to cash in on its popularity with the fanboys/girls before the third movie...

and apparently, it worked very well.

Madden tackled the compeition (pun was intended). Who cares about Enter the Matrix? Its come and gone, and right into the top 10. Oh well.

I guess there is a reason for the 50 thousand sports games on the shelves--they do sell...

I was hoping that Knights of the Old Republic would be on the list...and I really can't believe it isn't. It was one of the highlights of 2003, for me...

According to an interview on IGN, hasn't MK: DD sold more than 1,000,000 copies by Christmas? Why isn't it in there?

It is no surprise that it was successful thanks to the fanbase.

But I'm just assuming that the numbers listed were cumulative totals for all systems for games released on multiple platforms. Selling one million+ units in a year is very good for a game regardless of how many platforms it's on.

I'm surprised Madden sold so well, usually it's RPG's that dominate the list.

me too, I can't understand whats so great about sports games. i mean they're ok, but best seller of the year material? i dont see it. the wind waker should have came in first. ah oh well. I also noticed that there were not Xbox games on the list.

Once again Madden is the best seller of the year. Why? Could it be the huge over hyped fan base that feels that Madden is more of a challenge than any other football or sports game? Who knows? I don't like EA Sports. Also I almost never buy any sports games for a system until it's been discontinued so I can get the best made for the system. ;)

Pokemon and Wind Waker making the top 5 doesn't supprise me either. Notice they're the only ones in bold showing off his Nintendo fanboyism. No big deal. Both him and myself helped make LoZ:WW the rank it currently is, but I didn't buy Ruby or Saphire. They were free. :)

A modern GTA game made the list again?! No way! I never saw that comming...

Enter the Matrix also is not a supprise for me since it made the list. Why? All of the hype from the god awful movie and the fact that it answers a few questions to the movie trilogy you wanted to know. Questions I never even asked in the first place or cared about. However Atari screwed over the fans and the result of the game is pure crap.

The Getaway shocked me though. This game came out towards the end of January, and people long forgot about it halfway though March. I love this game and included it in the top ten list for 2003. It could've sold more than both GTA and ETM, but the hype and the stupid excuses about the dialogue or the level design were the reasons it didn't sell that well.

NCAA made the list. College Football games allways end up on the list too. Yet another sluggish EA sports title. Street 2 may not take the serious approach for their regular NBA games, but they put more creation and though into the gameplay. Same with Def Jam Vendetta. EA should just stick to making games like that. I bet Street Football will make the list this year.

The Sims made it too because it's another huge fad. I have nothing against the Sims, but I can easily get every patch for free after buying the original copy and download them legaly online. I don't feel like shelling out $35 every month or so. And I could edit and create better items for my PC version. You should check out my Ronin Warriors statue collection I made online.

My opinions stated here today may not be valid even though I eat, drink, and sleep in the video game universe. Feel free to ignore my thoughts written down today.

I'm a little mad that KOTOR didn't make the list. But at least Enter the Matrix made the list and yes I did like that game.

You would think games like xenosega, dark cloud or GGX would make the top ten. Looks like ps2 fans only care about FPS and sporst games. I`m also surprise SC2 and mario DD did not make it either. Atleast zelda made it seeing as how much basing the game ben getting.

I don't know where you'd get the idea that those games would make the top ten. They're all, to one extent or another, niche games. Don't confuse a small, but vocal, group of people with the majority.

And there weren't ANY FPS games on the chart. For any platform.

Oh, and once again, drop the Nintendo fanboy attitude. It's annoying.
So you knew gate a way And enter the martix would make the top ten? And this has nothing to do whit me being a fan boy so back off.

Getaway: no, Enter the Matrix: yes.

Though I'm not convinced this sales chart is correct. I'm pretty sure official data won't be available for a few weeks. And yes, I'm pretty sure that Mario Kart: Double Dash should be on the list.

And I'm not backing off this Nintedo fanboy thing. Saying that PS2 owners only like first person shooters and sports games is just as obnoxious and untrue as saying that Nintendo fans only like "kiddy" games.
Hey, how about you both back down before this thread (which has good potential) is closed. If you feel rainman is a N Fanboy, than let him be one. There are lots of anti-nintendo people here too, and they have a right to their opinion, just as he has one to his. I'm not saying that it was wrong to correct his saying that PS2 owners only like FPS games, but that little "its annoying" part wasn't needed. instead of saying that you could have just elaborated on what you were saying. If you want to cause conflicts, ask a mod to make a fighting and anger forum! I'd be there! I'm just saying this because half of the threads that have to do with Nintendo are ruined, lets not ruin this one.

From personal experience I find Madden to be more of a mainsteam game icon than GTA. The football audience is just so smeggin' huge. If you've ever been to the mall during one of the madden challenges theres usually close a thousand people there (and probably more than half abusing Michael Vicks speed rating). Sports games are the roots of mainsteam games (unless you count the early arcade days of course :) ). And by those numbers it shows.

The link doesn't seem to work right now, but if there are no Xbox games on the list, it's easy, there's aren't that many people who have an Xbox so niche games can't flourish as easily as on the PS2. Also, considering who the Xbox is targeting, KOTOR while very good if you like that kind of thing, is a niche title just because of the Xbox demo.
