Zoids sucks too...

So, this "Zoids" is going to Cartoon Network now.
*Sigh*

That's a step back for CN. Most of their anime has at least ranged from mediocre to very good. "Zoids" is something that you'd expect Fox Kids or KWB to pick up.

Absolutely avoidable. Don't bother with it. Couldn't make it through 5 episodes. It isn't horrible like Yugi-Oh, but not up to the standards of the rest of the anime shows on CN.

If anything, I think there isn't enough animation on Toonami that panders to the younger set that happens to generate important ratings figures for the network. The age range was, I believe, 11-18. Sure, Dragonball Z is something kids can get into, but the most obsessors of that anime and most cartoons on Toonami are within the age of 15-20 years of age.

Shows like Sailor Moon and Ronin Warriors were specifically there to keep kids tuned into the block. What with KWB starting their own Toonami, I guess Williams St. decided to make the whole block aimed towards older kids, but now that KWB Toonami has failed on so many of its promises, it's up to CN to win that audience back.

Which also leads me to believe that an extension to Toonami is coming up. One of them will be on Saturdays.. I guess it won't be called "Toonami Rising Sun" but it will be called..uh.. something. Maybe "Toonami Weekend Blitz" or something else that's cheesy enough to work.

True...but I have a nice list of other younger-skewing shows here which would at least be overall better programming than...ZOIDS!

Oh yeah, the toys are darn cool. I was into them ever since I was a kid... I can see how the show would be a bit silly, though.

very good dub with my faves from Ocean Group, but not enough to keep me watching. Glad to see it off Toonami and replaced with Tenchi :D

Wait, are you talking about Zoids/Zero (the one that's running on CN right now) or the other Zoids series (the one with 50 + episodes)?

Personally I loved Zoids/Zero. Sure it didn't have the deepest plot. I'll even admit that the plot was about as deep as a puddle in the Sahara in the dry season. But at least it was fun to watch.

I echo Mr Obsession's comments. If you go at Zoids expecting something like Gundam, you'll be disappointed. On the other hand, if you go at Zoids expecting something like Digimon, you'll find it quite fun, as I did.

Yeah, you heard me... instead of being serious and thought-provoking, Zoids simply goes for the fun-factor. Surprise! There are anime out there like that! :bosko:

Zoids is sub-mediocre. The show has the direction of a hyperactive 4-year-old, and I'm tired of CGI EVERYTHING.

Zoids was one of the best Toonami shows of the year, if you ask me. It had pointless fun. No other show had pointless fun on Toonami the way Zoids did. Simply great.

From the little amount of "Zoids" I saw, I found it at least somewhat entertaining. Definitely not boring.

I distinctly recall people saying that they hated Tenchi in Tokyo and wanted Tenchi off Toonami all together. Well, they got their wish and it was replaced with something never before seen, instead of another DBZ repeat (which people also abhor). I guess no one's ever satisfied with anything :p . I suppose some people forget that not all anime has to be super deep and thought provoking, but rather a flashy, enjoyable, fun waste of 20+ minutes.

And how about those old anime classics like Battle For the Planets (now there's some craptastic dubbing!). Sometimes it's just fun to watch some mindless kiddified action. :)

I kind of liked Zoids. Reminded me more of Unreal Tournament. Zoids probably could make a good FPS game. :)

I think you finally summed up why I like Zoids/Zero so much (and I've been trying to figure it out for awhile now). Z/Z simply reminded me of my childhood favorites. And on the bright side it had somewhat better plots and much better VAing than those shows I remember so fondly from my childhood. :bosko:

Zoids was less of a disappointment than Outlaw Star and more entertaining than 0080. Next to Mobile Suit Gundam, it was prob'ly my favorite new show this year.

[indent]Zoids really surprised me and I would say it is probably the best non-serious action cartoon I have ever seen. Sure it was silly, but it was meant to be silly. I enjoy series with deep plot that make you think, but there is nothing wrong with having fun blowing stuff up either. The great thing about Zoids was besides being a big robot smashing party it still had a decent plot and interesting characters. Good voices and good animation (especially CGI that blended very well with cel animation) certainly didn't hurt either. Finally, its interesting to note that while those old school Zoids type shows usually still tried to have some sort of moral every episode, a lot of times Zoids didn't even bother. I still feel sorry for poor Harry also. What's the use of being a man who would be king without your Leena?!?!

Bah, I prefer my "mindless fun" to be around the level of Excel Saga. Zoids just bored me.

Nothing against it, though; it's just not my cup of tea.

Oh yeah. Harry and Leena reminded me of Urkel and Laura from Family Matters, if anyone else remembers that show. :)

[indent]I truthfully didn't think much of Zoids the first time I saw it either. I quickly grew on me though the more I watched it. I think it was just the transition from Toonami's usual offerings.
