A very rarely seen T&J short is scheduled to air tomorrow on Boomerang. I don't want to mention the title right now because it could get pulled at the last second...

Check the Boomerang press site if you are curious... ;)

WOW, that IS a rare one... I don't think it's been on TV since 1995 (at least Turner network wise)...

Going by this of course, it could only be one of two cartoons, but I'm curious to know which one it actually is.

OK, is it "Part-Time Pals?" It's on, and I don't remember seeing this one lately.

Finally, "Part Time Pal"on Boomerang! I don't know what the big stink was for such a uneventful T&J episode? I've actually never seen it before. Anyone know the where the edits were, if any? Other than being a little dark, it looked decent and the audio was dull as usual. Great to add it to my DVD collection though!

Are these the only ones left that haven't aired in awhile? -
The Lonesome Mouse
Old Rockin' Chair Tom
Polka-Dot Puss
His Mouse Friday
The Egg and Jerry
Feeddin' the Kiddie
Tops with Pops (aired on TCM 12/26/03)

Part Time Pal seems to be overplayed on Boomerang UK :(

At least it's fully uncut, and has recently had the original soundtrack restored. No more muted-out "One for the money" speech, and Mammy has the original voice again.

I don't have Boomerang, but I have seen the original "Part Time Pal" before. That one is one of my favorites. I don't really see why it has been so rare until now... It's no more offensive than any other Mammy Two-Shoes cartoon. Either way, that's a great one... Glad it's airing on TV again.

Anyone know if Tom's "One <hic!> for the money, two <hic!> for the show, three <hic!> to get ready, and four to go!" was muted out or not?

It was muted on the version Boomerang aired. Mammy had the modern redubbed voice.

It makes sense for Boomerang to have aired "Part Time Pal" if "A Mouse in the House" already aired within the last few months.

The first three on that list aired in early 2002. The cinemascope remakes are among the cartoons that are not politically incorrect, but are still not shown, so they will probably remain locked up as far as television is concerned.

It makes sense for Boomerang to have aired "Part Time Pal" if "A Mouse in the House" already aired within the last few months. Not necessarily, as Cartoon Network and Boomerang show Mammy cartoons like "Puss Gets the Boot" and "Saturday Evening Puss" all the time (although redubbed), and yet they still edit "Fraidy Cat" and withhold "The Lonesome Mouse" and "Polka-Dot Puss" from airing... Their policy with the Mammy Two-Shoes cartoons doesn't really make sense at all.

I was merely saying that the two Mammy cartoons that were mysteriously held back during the last two years both showed up on Boomerang only a few months apart. If one of those two aired, the other might as well, and not because of content. I was not really thinking about their policy with the other Mammy cartoons.

Cartoon Network and Boomerang do not care about being forced to use pan-and-scan methods. They show other Tom and Jerry cartoons that originally aired in cinemascope. Also, a Droopy cartoon from 1956 ("Millionaire Droopy") is a cinemascope remake, and when other MGM cartoons aired on Cartoon Network, so did that one.

Why are those rarely shown?

Why are those rarely shown? :confused:They are scene-for-scene Cinemascope remakes of older cartoons ("The Little Orphan," "Hatch up Your Troubles," and "Love that Pup"). I assume they aren't shown because CN has the originals at hand.

Is "Millionaire Droopy" any more different from "Wags to Riches?"
All three of those original T&J cartoons are from 1949, and so is the original Droopy cartoon in question. That pattern must be intentional.

More than likely, it was done in part because those cartoons had not been re-released yet, while most of the T&J and Avery pre-48s (but not all) had already made a second appearance in theaters by 1955.
