Now, I was watching Beauty And The Beast a couple nights ago (the WB cartoon of course), and I couldn't help but notice that for the first couple of minutes in the cartoon the sound is slightly out-of-sync with the picture. I couldn't figure out why, since in 1934 most of the problems with sound synchronization had pretty much been solved.

But then, I watched Ub Iwerks' Comicolor cartoon The Three Bears, and during the second part of the cartoon the sound goes out of sync! Then I noticed what both these cartoons have in common: Cinecolor.

Does anyone know of any reason why Cinecolor would affect the sound like that? Or is it something else?

Maybe it has something to do with Cinecolor's process during the early 1930s, when it was relatively new. The cartoons made in Cinecolor in the late 1940s by Warners, Columbia, and Paramount don't sound off-sync...

Also, it might have been a problem of bad sound dubbing. Remember, sound was still somewhat new when those 2 cartoons (Beauty And The Beast, The Three Bears) were made.
