Favorite Episodes!

First off, I just wanted to say how much I love this show, and I still do. Too bad that it only airs on Teletoon in Canada (lucky dogs :<). Anyway, when I was a kid, TTA was THE show. The writing, the voices and the music were all important, but the humor was, IMHO, the glue that held the show together. For me, TTA falls into two distinct categories: 1) A show that, when it's on, it is on, but when it misses, look out, and 2) A show where the writers thought to themselves "Hey, just because we're doing an animated show on a kids' network, that doesn't mean that it has to be just for kids!". "Pinky and the Brain", "Animaniacs", "Freakazoid!" and "The Angry Beavers" also qualify for #2.

Some of my favorite episodes are:

Kon-Ducki (so many '70s references, so many laughs. The 'making of' special was also great)

The Return of Batduck (Plucky as Batman in Batman Returns. Enough said.)

Hog Wild Hamton (Party at Hamton's! The savage mockery of Ed McMahon was funny as well)

How I Spent My Vacation (Not an episode, I know, but I loved it. Easily the best moments were featured in the 'road trip from heck': Plucky traveling with Hamton's family to Happy World Land "where the fun never stops, at only 80 bucks a pop".)

I agree with How I Spent My Vacation and Batduck. I also loved the one where Plucky and Hampton are filming a movie on this boat, I forgot the name but it was HYSTERICAL!!!!!:D :D I also liked the one where Plucky thinks Hampton is a serial killer and tries to arrest him. There are far too many more too list. I'll come back later and list some more. Great topic!! :)

I think there's just too many of them to list... so many of them were great on so many different levels... I pretty much love anything with Plucky in it (he is my favorite character, after all)... to narrow it down to but a few would be too hard... True, I could have used without the Preachy Toons... (elephant issues... Ugh!) but for the most part, I loved them all....

Some of my favorite segments include:

The Anvil Chorus - gotta love anvils falling on Plucky...
The Blunder Years - short segment on K-ACME TV (or one of the "Boob Tube" episodes... can't recall off the top of my head)

of course the music videos... Istanbul (Not Constantinople) and Particle Man have to be my favorites...

of course How I Spent My Vacation
The Spring Break Special had some great moments that I'd kill to see again...

I don't have any particularly favorite episode...

Quack in the Quarks, Kon Ducki, the Music video eps, baby Plucky,... there's just too many to choose from... and I have none of them on tape or anything and it's been forever since I saw any of them, I can't just pick any right now.

Ah, yes, that was a great show. When I was in, like 4th grade, that was THE cartoon show...everyone watched it. I still watch it if I get the chance, but now that WB and CN have dropped it, I guess we've lost some classic moments. The cartoons in it were mixed, they were either classic or crap, but when they were classic, they REALLY were. I don't recall the titles to all of these like I do the classic LT/MM shorts, but I'll try:

"Ducklahoma"-Plucky getting hit with anvils as he rehearses for "Oklahoma"...hysterical.

"High Toon" -Wile E. Coyote as "The Coyote Kid", with Buster, babs, Plucky, and Hamton against him. I thought this one was pretty cool.

"Particle Man"-I believe it was Plucky in this one....in the wrestling ring. A music video episode...there were several of those and all were memorable.

"Money"-another music video...I liked this.

"The Flea Family" -This was, IIRC, a half-hour episode, and had an Italian family of fleas fighting for their lives on the back of Hairball and a dog.

The "Ask Mr. Popular" cartoons: I think there were several of these, in which a character would ask Buster Bunny about their social dilemmas. They were very funny.

Any of the sports episodes...there was an olympics one, but one of my favorite cartoon specials of all time has the football teams of Acme Looniversity and Perfecto Prep engaged in a cheating war, and all the characters, even some of the Looney Tunes, got involved. I liked the rat character in this.

-there was a real classic with Furball, as a homeless cat, trying to find a home. Very touching, fairly realistic at times...it dared to do what no other show at the time did...create sympathy and pathos for its character.

The prom episode. Everything about this episode was great, including Buster trying to use one of Bugs Bunny's tricks as a dance.

-the moth and kite cartoon.

-There was a cartoon in which Sylvester attempted to help Furball catch Lil' Sneezer, (presumably a relative of Sniffles), but they cannot do it, Sylvester catches the mouse's cold and the rest just gets worse for the poor cats.

A few more faves:

Buster and Babs Go Hawaiian - There is so much to love in this ep: the Spielberg cameo, the American Express ad parody, Shirley the Loon's repeated line "You murderers.", the entire plane sequence ("Hey, I got us up. Looks like there's a first time for everything."). It's amazing that three 13 year old girls concocted it.

The Potty Years - The simple plot and Nathan Ruegger's perfect voice work make this a gem.

Weekday Afternoon Live - I kinda liked how the writers gravitated toward parodying '70s skits rather than more recent stuff. Best bit: Dizzy Devil as Samurai Film Critic.

Istanbul and Particle Man - My first exposure to They Might Be Giants; perhaps the best of the music videos. I also loved Buster's line, "Who are these guys?".

Thirteensomething - A very funny ep. Unless you've seen "Tootsie" (I fell into that category until recently), you'll miss a lot of the jokes.

The Gogosby Show - One can only hope that the Cos missed this riotous riff on his classic show and his career in general.

Milk, It Makes a Body Spout - From the spoken title to the explosive finale, this is non-stop laughs.

The Amazing Three - Just plain terrific. The "Carrie"-esque end was also good.

I think so. Buster & the Wolverine. Good story (Furrball talks!), bad animation, except for that bit where Elmyra was silhouetted & for a second seemed to be a proto-Hello Nurse. But I liked it.

And the Mr. Skullhead Show! That was hilarious. I was very glad to see Skullhead make a few appearances on A!

I also loved the Milk episode, that one was good.

HISMV is another firm favourite of mine.

And let's not forget The Amazing Three....

is HISMV. For a movie and TV fan, this is a dream. Talk show parodies, chainsaw murderers, THUD Sound Systems, a cameo by Superman, the "Heathers" reference, a Tina Turner/"Laugh-In" double joke, all the caricatures, self-referencing, the water battle, the closing credits and more movie and TV name-and-scene checks than you can believe...The writers knocked one outta the park with this. Warner Home Video should bypass the Family Entertainment label and make this a Special Edition with remastered sound and an anamorphic widescreen transfer.

You have to admit though, there were a few clunkers.
Whale's Tales for one.
And let's not forget High Toon.

Have to say though, the characters were so good that even the few bad episodes were well worth watching.
That was the great thing about TTA, the characters were superb. They weren't just little versions of the Loony Tunes, they were fantastic characters in their own right.
This might sound like heresy, but I much prefer them to their LT counterparts.
It's about time they gave them a movie.

I didnt think Whale's Tales was that bad - but i do remember a few (not by name since its been so long) that weren't necessarily the best or had the best of animation. :P

In many cases the worst of Looney tunes was not as bad as some of the worst f Tiny Toons. It just varied from here to there.

--"To Bleep or Not to Bleep" and "The Horn Blows at Lunchtime". Those two had me falling on the floor laughing myself into a fit of hiccups. Also anything with Gogo Dodo or Calamity Coyote. For drama, though, I liked the short where Furrball gets smitten with a lost yellow hair ribbon....and the short where he befriends an upper-class kitten but realizes his true place is the street.

The Amazing Three: All three girls looked stunning in their outfits, the tribute to "Carrie" was great and of course "Will Dizzy Eat It?" was hysterical. Who doesn't want a pic of Dizzy eating a Stealth Bomber for their desktop?

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: If I tried to list every single thing I loved about this, we'd be here all night and into tomorrow afternoon. The animation was great, the scene seques were very creative and I loved how all the running gags from the rest of the film all came together at the end. And revenge is sweet, sweet, sweet! (just ask Babs)

Queen Babs: Who wasn't broken up by "Elvis Fudd?" Or was it "Elmer Presley?" I forget which.

In short order the rest are: Fields of Honey, Two-Tone Town, the Star Wars spoof, the Istanbul, not Constantinople music video, Prom-ise her anything, the second episode with the Flea family and the segment from the "Tales of Heroic Rabbits" episode with Buster having to rescue Babs from the dragon. The Monty Python bits that were thrown in there were classic.
