View Full Version : Jetix:Possible Disney Shows On It?
ABC Cable has a new action-adventure programming block coming out in February called Jetix. It will be on ABC Family (replacing its own block), Toon Disney, and will eventually be the new name of all those Fox Kids channels across the world. Since this does pertain to Toon Disney (and the fact that the Big D has their own action-adventure cartoon library outside of the Saban/FK library), which cartoons will be on both Jetix blocks? Could Gargoyles debut on ABC Family? Will Digimon eek its mug on Toon Disney? Discuss.

IF we're talking animation only, certainly they will be milking the Marvel component on the Toon Disney portion of the block. It should also be the home of Gargoyles, too. Maybe some of the anime portion of the library such as "Samurai Pizza Cats".
ABC Family, I think, will probably stay the course with a similar schedule. They'll just take the Jetix branding.
The real question here, tho... will they keep TD Jetix animation-only? Or will they stretch the definition to put on live-action shows? I can concievably see both happening. We'll see tomorrow if they start running promos on ABC Family.

good question there Matt, and in fact it makes me wonder about this as well especially the ABC Family Side of the Equation.. Already i have seen one show that isn't Toonage, It's Live Action (The Famous Jett Jackson, which Interestingly enough isn't even Toon Disney, It's Disney Channel Programming moved over to ABC Family..) which makes me wonder if ABC Family anytime soon would be picking up other Disney Channel Items (like Kim Possible) as well.
but the thing is if this is Toon Disney and ABC Family there is a very good chance you will see not Only Gargoyles and Marvel on this block, but also Anime Like Digimon and Beyblade as well.
In Short I feel that ABC Family is trying a New Ploy at getting viewers back after Eisner Gutted the Animation Section that Haim Saban had Set up (with Braceface and Totally Spies..) so it wouldn't surprise me if Marvel and Digimon, and some Disney Channel shows join up on ABC Family as well..
After all we are talking Jetix here right?
We do know that the Power Rangers will still be on ABC Family, along with the new season (Dino Thunder) coming up next month. I think that Jetix will debut on both networks whenever PRDT debuts on ABC Family, which will be around mid to late February.
As for shows on those blocks, I really want to see Gargoyles on ABC Family more than Jett Jackson because it's more suited for the block than Jett. Plus, ABC Family is in more households than Toon Disney. As for TD, I think that some of the Marvel properties (Spider Man and X-Men, esp.) will be on there, along with Mighty Ducks and anything that can blend action-adventure with humor, like Darkwing Duck or Buzz Lightyear.

I doubt we'll see any Disney shows showing up on ABC Family except for maybe Jackson and maybe Gargoyles, although Gargoyles is unlikely. And I very doubt ABC family would show Kim Possible since it's always been more of boy block, so I doubt we'll see KP since it's not a boy targeted show.
And I very doubt ABC family would show Kim Possible since it's always been more of boy block, so I doubt we'll see KP since it's not a boy targeted show. That, and the fact that it's already on heavy rotation on Disney Channel. The only ABC that will air KP will be ABC Kids. Jett Jackson should not be on Jetix. ABC Family hypes the show as if it was just 30 minutes of Silverstone. Jett feels more like something to air next to the Olsen Twins.
Hopefully, Jetix will mean that the Saban/FK vaults will finally be deployed onto US soil and on either network. Tekknoman, VR Troopers, and Samurai Pizza Cats ccould make the Jetix blocks their home.

i'd like to see gummi bears or some other past DA shows, but that's probably asking for too much.

Disney is finally acknowledging they own the PR franchise in a big way as Power Rangers Dino Thunder is coming to Toon Disney on Saturday, February 14 at 7:30 pm. That's right, prime-time PR on weekends.

Well, we're talking about Michael Eisner here....so, yeah, either that...or he doesn't know the meaning of 'toon.'

I agree with you there, but the strange part about it is that the Disney Channel's own success is keeping Jetix from going to that channel. The weekend prime-time lineup there is really strong with That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Kim Possible, and other shows and it would be foolish for Disney to tamper with that right now. One thing this does do though, Disney can't hide PR under the "Buena Vista Studios" name anymore, even though PR products are in Disney stores right now for example. They own the franchise and apprarently they want to let the world know it too by doing this.

Disney-made shows:
Gargoyles
Mighty Ducks
Darkwing Duck
Tale Spin(This one's not too likely, I guess)
Disney-owned shows:
Digimon
Samurai Pizza Cats(PLEASE!)
Beyblade, Medabots, and all the other ABC Family crap

I say they should scrap all those ABC Primetime shows on ABC Family and turn it back to what it was when it was the Fox Family Channel. But rename it Jetix. They can keep the Olsen Twins, bring back Braceface and Big Wolf On Campus. The only reason why Fox Family failed is that they didn't put the big Fox Kids shows on that channel. They should pretty much make ABC Family what Fox Kids UK is right now.

well... I called it... as far as PR goes...
and I'm torn. It's good to see it get primetime, but Toon Disney is... well... TOON. Disney. Power Rangers is not exactly animated. and I don't like the news that ABC Fam Jetix will have movies filling up the last two hours. To me, it effectively cuts the block down to just three hours. And way too many cable channels rely on movies.
Damn you Disney...

Why on earth are they airing Power Rangers on Toon Disney? Its not a CARTOON!!! They could have given it a prime time spot on ABC Family instead... and that would make perfect sense to me.
Considering that elsewhere in the world Jetix is going to be what Fox Kids was... I don't think Jetix here will have actual Disney cartoons in it.
I seem to recall Bandai owning the distribution rights to Samurai Pizza Cats now but I want it to air so now I kind of hope Disney has it (as long as they don't edit it more than it already has been).
Here's what I'd like to see
- Spider-Man: TAS
- X-Men: TAS
- Digimon (double dose)
- Samurai Pizza Cats
- Iron Man: TAS
- Fantastic Four: TAS
- Meda Bots

Well.... it has begun.... I'm worried now that, if all goes to plan... they'll decide to go and "refocus" the network.... to sorts focus on toons but not focus on toons... to strip the name down to a two-letter acronym... type a random word into Photoshop, Arial font... and then,m finally, stick a geometric shape around it and tilt it at an angle so that it's hip.... and then.... then.... then.... *gulp*

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHThat's not so bad, they can make cool bumpers with it.
But giving it a hip logo will attract a hip audience that will be highly dissapointed... .
The News Ticker says that it's a surprise to air PR on TD because of the ratings, but that's not as significant as the fact that there airing PR on a channel dedicated to cartoons! Who's stupid idea was this?

Why would Toon Disney put live action like Power Rangers on the cable channel? Cartoon Network and Boomerang have done this before with Danger Island, Mystery Island, and Korg: 70,000 B.C.

Are you against it then?
Hey, didn't those shows air on The Banana Splits?

Hey. That reminds me of the UPN logo.
As much as I am excited that PRDT will be on ABC Family BEFORE its ABC Kids airing (yay!), I'm shocked and confused with the fact that a full-fleged live-action show will be on a 24/7 cartoon channel. Something tells me that this will give Roy Disney further proof to dethrone Eisner.
Besides, I don't have Toon Disney. (Digital Cable required for it)

Just saw the Toon Disney Jetix promo. Same style and stuff but it includes a glimpse of the shows on there. An interesting mix, methinks.
Beyblade and Digimon are there, and they appear to be previous seasons. (There's a shot of Sora riding Birdramon.) Power Rangers is represented by the previous seasons(new home of Best of PR perhaps?). Also interestingly, Buzz Lightyear and Tarzan show up so yes, there will be some Disney representation. If they don't put Gargoyles on then it will be a CRIME.
Think I'm going to go and see if I can do an encode.

Surprised Matt hasn't come back in here and posted the lineup that was issued last night (since he was the one who IMed me! :D )
Anyhow, here's what it is:

7:00 -- The Legend of Tarzan
7:30 -- Power Rangers Ninja Storm
8:00 -- Digimon
8:30 -- Buzz Lightyear
FRIDAY:
7-9 -- Toon Disney movie
WEEKENDS (eff. 2/14):
7:00 -- The Legend of Tarzan
7:30 -- Power Rangers Dino Thunder
8:00 -- Digimon
8:30 -- Beyblade V-Force

Yet, no Gargoyles. Vyse sad.:(

It probably won't resurface unless they decide to unearth it (like they did with Ronin Warriors).
Even if Disney did own the show, they wouldn't dare put it on one their channels. It has too much stuff in it that they would consider un-PC.

I was just wondering why on the Jetix Block they would be running The Legend of Tarzan (at only 38 Epsidoes (41 if you count the DVD) they would be running out of episodes in just 9 to 10 weeks before you would be into repeats here..
If Gargoyles were Running then we would be Talking at least 76 Episodes (That includes the 13 The Goliath Chronicles Episodes), and that could run for a good 12-13 weeks...before a Rerun would occur...
Buzz Lightyear is another problem considering 65 episodes (including the 62 Run Eps plus the 3 on video that would be only 16 weeks before reruns set in..)
(mutters: they really need to axe that 65 Ep rule anyway..)
but I'm a bit disappointed that Jetix isn't going to run Gargoyles right now.. hopefully in the future, but not very likely right now...:(
