Ya know there was a reason the Konami code was invented, and this is certainly a good reason...

It looks like some of the levels from Contra 3.

Man I wish Konami would make a Contra game for Gamecube. I guess I can rent it now that I have a PS2, but still... Contra got its roots on the NES and the MSX, but there seems to be no GCN Contra love. Konami you dissapoint me.

Because Contra is basicly a nitche title, side scrollers went out with the SNES and Genesis, with the occasional popping up now and then...I mean alot more people have a PS2 then a Gamecube(but some have both). So to produce for one system that has many users, chances are you'd get alot more people to buy the version rather than only selling half or so of the PS2 version if GC had it rather than 75% if it was limiteds to PS2.

The NES ports came out later (although they were quite awesome). Besides, what better way to attract the most audience than releasing it on a console with the highest userbase?
Still, I don't see why Konami didn't do a GameCube (or Xbox for that matter) port of Shattered Soldier. It's not like the game used any specific feature from the PS2. Heck, it was released on a CD-ROM.
Anyway, 1UP posted impressions, a preview and an interview with the developers of Neo Contra, along with other Konami games shown at Gamers' Day (including Nanobreaker, IGA's new game). Check it out!

People are already *****ing about the fact that it's 3D, but I think Nakazato and his team know what they're doing and are not willing to repeat Appaloosa's mistakes.

Another Contra? w00t! I still couldn't get over the action in SS. I wonder if they will choose the same weapon setup or something new.

Bill Rizer and A SAMURAI???? What'll they think of next... I wonder what's the excuse to bring Red Falcon back this time?

They should've kept Lucia dammit. It's not like it's hard to make a game with multiple characters (Contra Hard Corps anyone). Heck, I still regret the fact that they killed off Lance and turned him into a bad guy (only to killed him off again).

Ack no! They made it 3D! You can't do that to Contra! Metroid was a stretch and so was Mega Man but Contra should ALWAYS be 2D.
Gradius V looks awesome, only on PS2 though
Shaman King is looking good as well, much better than any YGO game they've published.
No World Fighters... too bad I may have to import that now.
Twin Snakes is looking sweet!
YGO on Xbox? Do they actually expect that to sell?
I don't like that Konami focuses SO much on PS2. I'm fine that the games come out on PS2 but not giving the other systems a chance with them is lame. I think Contra would sell well on GCN and Xbox, Shaman King would sell very well on GCN (looking at Beyblades success), Gradius would probably sell on GCN, and so on and so forth. I'm really sad about World Fighters (but I figured it wouldn't come out - at least yet) because its undoubtablly the best Konami game for the Gamecube (guess we'll have to live with mediocre TMNT action).
If they make the argument that games released on the PS2 first sell far better than when they are released on the other systems afterwords then... DUH! PS2 has a large userbase and lots of people will not want to buy the game again, but probably given the choice would have bought it for their Xbox or GCN.
BTW, which was the highest selliing TMNT game?
GCN, Xbox, or PS2?

Yes. It's the new "cool" thing for pre-teens and the such. A Yugi-Oh game would probably sell well on any console.

How many Xbox fans do you know that would even take a second look at a YGO game? I know none.
There are some kids out there with Xbox but not too many in comparrison.
BTW YGO is old, Beyblade is the new "cool thing" and I really don't understand why.

You'd probably be surprised.

Me either...but that's because I don't know anyone who likes Yugi-Oh.

I guess if neither of us know anyone who likes YGO (I use to but they don't anymore) then we can't rightfully say if it would sell or not. I'm just thinking it wont sell nearly as well as if it was on GCN or PS2. I commend Konami for their bravery but they probably should have put Contra on Xbox instead. I know a LOT of shooter fans...
I still want to know which version of TMNT sold best. Does anybody know? Can anybody tell me where I can find out?

Never say never. Everybody was all doom-and-gloom about making Metroid 3D, and it ended up kicking ass. I'm sure people were nervous about Mario and Zelda at the time. I think every 2D franchise can be made into a good 3D game with the right development team and the right amount elbow grease.

Metroid isn't very different but slightly different. It wasn't as fast paced as Contra. There are two fast paced shooters that should never be 3D. Those are Contra and Mega Man.
Action or adventure games are fine for 3D but side scrolling shooters should live on for as long as gaming exists.

This Contra looks alot like Contra:Legacy of War for PS1 and my memories from that game were horrible. I doubt Neo Contra will Be good because contra does not work with an overhead perspective.

The kickass overhead levels from Contra III void that argument.

Koomni say that make game for TEENS and not for kids. I should not tell which systems they were talking about. I don`t know why N put up whit koomni. Whit talking like that, they don`t need that kind of support. By the way, the GC and Xbox verison of TMNT were supposed to have 4 players opinion. But at the last minute they scrap it cause the ps2 verison didn`t have 4 player option. Anit that sad?

I seem to recall Konami saying that about Nintendo (don't remember where though).
Actually the director of the TMNT games said that it wasn't four player because the new show didn't often have all four turtles working together at the same time. I thoroughly believe it was designed as a single player game and the 2 player option was just an after thought. It is too bad that a four player option wasn't an after though.
PS2 couldn't have been the sole reason because it can support 4 players with a multitap anyway.

Please state your source. And it's spelled Konami by the way.
I remember reading from a Kengo Nakamura interview that he scrapped it simply because the game had problems with the camera angles with more than two people playing. I'm sure the PS2 is capable of doing multi-player (even if an adapter is required).
