When fans of Justice League discuss things that they feel are missing from the series -- such as Barry Allen and The Lasso of Truth -- I'm surprised that, thus far, no one has discussed the absence of the Justice League's Trophy Room, a mainstay of the comics since the beginning (and has recieved new life in Grant Morrison's JLA). As was the case with Batman's collection and Superman's alien zoo, The Watchtower seems sort of...sterile without it.
Let me explain: when BTAS was in production, the series bible omitted items from the mythos, such as the Batsignal, on the grounds that it didn't fit the series that they were trying to produce. However, while it may be hokey -- considering the paradox of an urban legend who wants the public to question his existence, yet has a giant searchlight with his emblem on it that flips on when there's trouble -- there is also a valid argument for its continued presence in the Batman mythos. Frank Miller, in one of his essays, put it best when he said, "The Batcave just isn't complete without that fifty-foot penny." Simply put, without the Batsignal, or the giant penny, or all the other weaponry with the "Bat" preface before it; it just wouldn't be Batman (even Paul Dini conceeded that Batman wasn't the same without the Batsignal in Batman: Animated). The same holds true with Superman, who recieved his Artic stronghold -- complete with alien zoo -- early in the Superman series.
That said, I ask you: do you think that the possibility exists that the Trophy Room could appear in Season Three? If its absence was due of a lack of items to put in it (which would have been the case in Season One), the League has now had two seasons to collect stuff for one (a reassembled Manhunter robot, the remains of The Heart of Darkness and/or The Philosopher's Stone, Superman's outfit from Hereafter). So, do you think it might happen and, if so, what would go in it?
(Finally, I don't want to get into the debate about the Lasso of Truth and whatnot; frankly, it's played out and, besides, it's already been addressed numerous times.)
